  • I've only really tried what I've had in distillery tours. Never bought any.
I'll give this a whirl and then maybe some tasters from MoM if it's any good.
Got other stuff to get through first though

  • Teelings is a new Distillery in Dublin, it's only a couple of years old. It was the first distillery to open here in over 100 years, they're popping up all over the country now. So the whiskey itself is from Cooley Distillery, now owned by Suntory. It doing pretty well here and has won a bunch of awards for the 24 year old single malt.

The small batch, which I imagine is the sample you have, is very good. It's aged in Rum barrels so picks up a bit of spice from that . Like most Irish whiskey it's a blend of grain and malt, triple distilled.

  • Just picked up some Chivas "extra" as it was on offer in Waitrose; £25.

Says it's a blend of malts which have been matured in oloroso sherry casks. Sounds reasonably promising.

    Anyone tried it?

  • On a random whim I bought a bottle of Kilchoman Machir Bay - nice, quite different to anything else I've tried

  • Just tried a little nip of the Chivas Extra.

It's ok, little bit of sweetness, little bit of wood. No hardship at the offer price but I doubt I will be seeking it out again.

  • Much thread to catch up on but...
If anyone is after pappy then I'm informed there's meant to be some getting delivered this weekend.

  • Astronomically expensive?

  • PM'd you on insta regarding this

  • Don't particularly wanna post publicly as hoping to secure a few bottles. Seems like 10yr is gonna be around £200 though, which is a pisstake considering the fact I used to get it for £80 about 6 years ago. The last bottle of 15 I got was over £200, should've got two and sold one online to cover the cost of both.

  • Bought another japanese whiskey Chita from suntory. It's a grain whiskey and the first taste felt harsh. I am drinking some now and it tastes very different. more sutble. It is a light whiskey with a sweet caramel like nose but that does not describe right. it taste like a honey cereal cake with some unknown spices. Damm it's good.

  • Amathus in Soho have one bottle of Pappy 15 left. It's £395 but you have to buy it with a pairing bottle which brings it to £600. Fuck that

  • Exactly my thoughts. Picked up 4 cusquena and left.

  • Spotted a bottle of Jefferson's Small Batch Bourbon in Aldi, worth a punt?

  • Arrived to work this morning to this on my desk ...
