I won't fall in love with a thing. I won't fall in love with a male thing.
I will fall in love with my bikes, which are all 'she'.On a serious note, I don't really see the problem. In many languages things have a gender, so for me it's more than natural to refer to bikes a 'she', same for cars as they have that gender in Italian too.

Burn it. Start again.

Fair enough, who am I to judge. It's similar in german but I find it weird when I read it in english. As much as I love my bikes, they're still inanimate objects and imo he or she are reserved for living beings. Needless to say that I would find it equally awkward when women or homsexual men referred to their bikes as 'he'.

Magnificent!

In Italian they often call a good looking car “la bella macchina”

• #48
Correct

Yes, as 'macchina' (as well as 'bicicletta' [bike]) are both female terms.
But yeah, I think I never heard of women referring to their bikes or cars as 'he'.
