I ran 52/34 - 11-28 in Spain and it fucking ruled for long climbs.
Yeah it is personal pref obviously.I ran 11-28 52/36 before shifting to my current setup. I just felt smoother in general after switching.
I wish I was strong enough for 53/39 or 52/36 :(
I did think about suggesting a semi compact as it seems the best of both worlds, but as you say, the jump in shifting is the issue. I thought trad. doubles were dead but actually they're better.
Do you have an extra long chain for a 53x32?
