Does anyone care?
-
• #14478
about the award or Froome?
-
• #14479
Isn't he disbarred on the grounds of not having a personality?
-
• #14480
No.

Possibly the wankest three hours of telly of the year. Sue Barker flirting with men a third her age and the prize will get given to some cunt who drives a car even though F1 is not a sport.
Although I don't care, Tom Pidcock should certainly have been on the list of junior nominees.

The award. The BBC’s coverage of sport is appalling and the SPOTY show is the turd that sits atop their steaming pile of shit pundits, crap analysis and shitty blokeish fake bonhomie that is unrelentingly shit.

Puh-lease.
Point one - this glib response is made every fucking year by some bore.
Point two - in an increasingly media savvy world athletes know not to reveal too much otherwise the media pick at it, leading to anodyne, soporific ‘interviews’ which don’t reveal the person behind the image. Froome’s back story is amazing and I’m sure he is a very interesting person outside of the media spotlight. You don’t win five GTs without having an edge.

Fair point!
Personally I like Froome. I think after getting involved in the sprint at the end of the Vuelta when he could have easily not contested it shows he isn't just some sort of GC show pony.

This is like reading SPOTY comments from last year. And the year before that. And the year before that. And the year before that. And the year before that. And the year before that. And the year before that. And the year before that. And the year before that. And the year before that. No further tho, as that's when the forum was born.

Whinge about it in the proper thread then Dad;

Joshua Anthony will [deserves to] win because he's good at sport and good at being a human too.

Giro route looks a bit “meh” on paper. A lot of uphill finishes, but short on savage mountain stages.
-
• #14492
Froome confirmed to be riding.
I’m surprised, I thought he’d prioritise a 5th Tour win above all else next season.
-
• #14493
Why not be confident about doing Giro + TdF when you have already proven to be able to win TdF + Vuelta?
Nice that we will see a Froome vs Dumoulin GT for sure.
-
• #14494
His fifth tour can wait; if he wins the Giro, then he'll simultaneously hold all three Grand Tour jerseys, which would be quite something.
-
• #14495
Will Dumolin defend his title or have a crack at a wearied Froome while fresh at the tour?
-
• #14496
Interview with TD just on Dutch telly now: He knows whether he’s going to ride Giro but he doesn’t want to say. “Both TdF and Giro are beautiful but not perfect”. He added that he “won’t shy away from any GT because there are other contestants” after the interviewer suggested Froome is the top opponent in either.
-
• #14497
Yes Froome. If he wants to be the best he needs to win it.
Will be incredible.
Sod the tour. -

Plus sure his bank account benefitted nicely. Hope he didn’t have to pay Dave B off much to authorise it.

Froome has nothing to prove. He is already the best: of his generation, of the last 30 years. Comparisons with the era of Merckx and Hinault are false ones. Does he need to win Paris-Roubaix to be 'the best' too?
Adding the Giro will be classy and exciting but the Giro is not the Tour, he's already won the hardest stage race 4 times. He could fail to win either next year and he will still be one of the greatest. -

/wipes tear from eye
Will Froome get SPOTY or will all the cyclist hating cunts vote against him not because of his achievements but because he is said cyclist?
