Police say no evidence of shots or suspects- so maybe it was just hysteria?

Sister’s friend was on the platform at Oxford Circus and said there was an argument/scuffle and then someone just shouted “he’s got a gun” and everyone panicked and ran. Not sure if that was the beginning or maybe even unrelated to the argument on the platform and someone was reading the news on their phone but it was her impression that it all kind of started from that.
There was no gun

At the time I was trying to work out the centre of the event but there were reports from 3 different areas. Now we can see it was one small event that spread panic over quite a wide area.

Not in the news. According to Boardman, The Sunday Times asked him to write this piece then declined to publish it without telling him why:

My irony meter just started giving off sparks.
Reports of a man with a gun and shots heard, but don’t know how accurate those reports are.
