I like this idea.
-
• #3
Start it today and then it can end on Christmas day.
edit - actually going to suggest the first one is given the theme of Christmas too so people can go for both tacky Christmas and arty Christmas pics but it will just encourage fun Christmas pics to be posted either way.

Good idea. Is this going to combine both, or will there be two separate challenges?
-
• #5
I'm in and vote for keeping it separate.
-
• #6
Separate for sure.
-
• #7
@Poetic, yes two separate challenges!
@Clockwise, perfect let's begin today and end it on December 25th.
#Christmas for the first theme? Any more suggestions?
Let me remind you that it is possible to use various cameras (film & digital) if we post more than one pic.

Let’s do a Christmas theme. It’s broad enough...
-
• #9
Would be cool if you submit 3-5 images, so it's more of a mini-series on a subject, and get's judged as a whole. A month is long enough to get at least three images and it also makes it slightly different to the other challenge.

Maybe could/should indicate it's film in the title - I got all excited but I don't shoot film (haven't the time) anymore. Doing themes sounds great though :)
also, I suspect your day mentions in criterion 2 need adjusting (which Sunday in the month?).
Good luck all - I look forward to seeing the pics.

Can we mix formats? Not really arsed about film or digital, it’s all pictures.
-
• #12
Yeah - max 3-5 pictures, film or digital, so that it’s a mood rather than just a snap. I’d be keen on 3 as that forces a bit more of an edit, more than 5 is too much. Between is fine.
-
• #13
If it's mixed formats, that'd be awesome! :)
-
• #14
I thought it was clear, it's mix formats so you can post some film & digital pics on the same entry! This is not only reserved to film users.
@Poetic & @h2o Right, I'll edit the rules.
@d0cA Mmh, let's say we can submit a picture up until 10pm on Sunday 24th and vote for the best entry the 25th. The next deadline will be for example the January 21st.
So let's do #Christmas for the first theme. Have fun!

I don't know about anyone else but I suspect a lot of people will be away for Xmas. I won't be spending my Xmas day looking at the forum, that's for sure.
-
• #16
Close on Christmas and vote boxing day maybe?
-
• #17
My thought would be to run the first one till the end of December (since Xmas isn't actually until the 25th and film people especially might want time for processing) and then after that they will follow the calendar month and the start and finish dates will be easy to remember.

• #18
Sensible.
-
• #19
Yep.
-
• #20
Alright. Have you in mind some precise dates?
-
• #21
Whatever works for you, I guess. Run up to the end of the month and then try and get the new one started as close to the start of the next month as possible?
I'm not fussed really but then it could be January's, February's etc. -
• #22
I would agree with calender months... I would suggest run until midnight on the last day of the month, then have voting until midnight on the 4th and the new topic announced on the 5th ? That way, the voting period will almost always include at least one working day (allowing for a weekend and one bank holiday) and there are at least 3 weeks in which to produce the photo series.

Wrong thread. Ignore me. Most do....

• #24
Well said. So let's close the entries the 31st. I'll make a resume of the posts on January 4th so that we can vote until the 5th. Then, as you said, we will continue the processus until the end of the month etc.
I'll edit the rules. Let's resume it :
- theme : #christmas
- 1 to 5 pics per post
- digital and film (or both!) allowed
- deadline is the end of the month
- voting on the 4th and new topic the 5th
Hope everything is clear, have fun!
- theme : #christmas

Thanks for setting this up. I never have enough time to enter the weekly one.
Hey guys,
Like the weekly photography challenge, I was wondering why not open a monthly challenge so that people who shot in film can easily share their stuff. (This is not only reserved to film users.)
Moreover, given that we have one month, I suggest we can post 1 to 5 photos for each theme. Thus we would have more possibilities to interpret and to try some artistic techniques.
Rules are similar to @mi7rennie weekly challenge :
1. Photos must be taken during the month of the challenge. No photos from you archive allowed.
2. You can submit a picture up until 10pm on the Sunday, voting will then run on Monday until 10pm at which point I'll count up the votes and announce the winner. The winner will then pick the next category and count the votes for the following week.
3. One to three entries allowed per person per month. In the event of a draw the previous winner chooses the winner.
4. A title, description and the theme for the month e.g., "Architecture" and date of submission should be included in the entry. You can also tag the photo i.e. #Architecture.
5. Images should be embedded in the thread rather than linked.
6. Any editing allowed but please be honest about what has been done, this is about learning as much as a bit of healthy competition.
7. Comments and constructive criticism are welcome.
If you have any suggestions let me know, I think it can be a great fun!
Cheers,
_Q
