  • As far as I'm aware DDs are 'Pull' - if the contract ends, the service company should stop 'pulling' the money out. So yeah, they should just stop.

    Debt collection agencies can be told to F off too.

  • As above, I would think there is an automatic “contract” between company and customer. Her end is that she pays and their end is that they provide a service. Once they stop providing said service, they have broken their end of the contract. Explain to the bank. I had somewhat similar with utility bill for other tenants usesge and it was written off or at least removed from being my responsibility once this was proven.

  • And tell them you'd like interest as it is their error. 8% plus base rate is standard.

  • Can these Bonty 26" x 1.5 tyres go on your average 26" MTB rim? Or are they too narrow? I haven't actually got any wheels yet... but these are cheap so I'm tempted to buy them now. Want to bulk out an order so I don't have to pay postage and I'll be buying something similar sooner or later.

  • I run 32mm Marathons on 90s mtb rims, I think you should be fine.

  • You might need some skinny innertubes unless you can tuck the ones you've got in there.

    You're nowhere near pushing the envelope with rims up to 25mm internal width.

  • Help needed for braek pads, please.

    I have 35c fatty tyres, h plus son archetype with jagwire brake pads on shimano mini v brakes.

    As far as I know, the rim surface on these rims are already a little wider than my old unbranded rims, but because of the fatty tyres, the brake pads are starting to rub onto the actual rims, which is not good. There is literally less than 1mm room to allow the pads to move out of place.

    Any suggestions of other brake pads I could try? Used to have the Shimano stock ones that came with the brakes, they were worse...

  • The answer is smaller spacers between the pad and the brake-arm.

    You'll need a thinner spacer, something from here might work

  • Cheers, forgive me if I am sounding a bit stupid, but how would that help? The braking surface on the pads are pretty much the same width as the braking surface on the rims, so how would having thinning spacers solve the problem? I am just thinking when the pads are pressed against the rims, wouldn't the contact points and angles be the same regardless of what spacers to use? Obviously, then it'd be a case of setting it up like @BlackMath says?

  • Look at the caliper from the front: the pads move in an arc.

    Reducing the spacer stack means that arc is closer to the pivot point of the arm.

  • I see! So I'll adjsut the spacers and see if it imporves it and report back. Thanks.

    Few more months then my super duper TJD bike will be ready. It'll be no more braking any rim!!!

  • I won't get my new bike till Spring so still very much worth solving the problem... and to be honest, I think this bike concerned will still be my everyday bike. My TJD is too expensive to be locked outside work...

    Online it says hertz just pass on your details now if you dont have itnand they chase the car owner and dont get involved with anything other than that.

    Obviously dont want to end up not being allowed into the US or something extreme but also it’s a total bullshit $100

    Probably. In general, car rental companies pay them without question, usually after any discount period for quick payment, and then add an administrative charge of their own before taking the money from your credit card. In London's famous London, that means instead of the £65 you'd pay if you coughed up within 14 days, the rental company charges you about £170 (£130 non-discounted PCN + £40 admin).

    If you're absolutely sure, send it for administrative review using the online process (here if the citation was issued by LA DOT). That freezes the fine at the current level so you don't get hit for late payment on top, but it also advises them that it's your responsibility so even if they rule against you it won't go to the hire company and come back to you with admin charges added

  • The bad outcome here is that you get a conviction of some description (local laws vary) and you end up with an arrest warrant against you. You'll never pass another ETSA which will make it very difficult to return to the USA.
