  • It’d be serviced by this bunch if I bought it, and I don’t want anything to do with them- I’m writing the Volvo option off.

  • there was a firm that had all the cars in the world and dealers could rent them for extended test drives when annoying people like you requested it.

I used to work for National Car Rental, 15yrs ago, we did the long term test drive cars for Audi and Vauxhall. As a result got to try some nice cars. Also got to find out that most just used them for a weekend away to impress some folks.. They always came back stickerless and without keyfobs and in a right state

  • Dealers behavior really does impact the buying decision. I'm currently looking and so far, Peugeots can go away- terrible dealers. Same as ford.
Renault, very accommodating - even let me put a filthy baby seat in a car for test drive ( with filthy baby) and they were not worried, even offered for us to keep car for a few days. My local bogan Holden (Vauxhall) dealer offered the same... And this is on sub $30,000 hatchbacks!

Also a Porsche dealer was great, they have a pug 308 GTi 270 for a very good price, ex demo car... Long story but they were super helpful and friendly.

Dealers need to understand that their role is essentially PR and customers still matter

  • You send a piss email to volvo UK? Why the fuck they wouldn't court you I don't know...

  • Ive had a brand new golden commodore sv6 estate for a couple of weeks as a rental.

I didn’t want to like it it, but I really do. It has gadgets, heaps of space and it is actually pretty nice to drive.

It’s got me thinking about a big estate when I get back.

  • It is a shame it'll be the last of the breed. They were starting to get decent. I'd consider one if I needed a large wagon.

  • It does feel odd- clearly it's on me to hire a V90 T8 to see if I like it/it works for me, then apply to them for one.

  • I could understand if they were being rude to me, but by almost any metric you are the ideal customer.

  • Get an E63, then we can swap when we get bored

  • So, I finally gave up- if Volvo treated me even slightly better I (a current Volvo owner of 10 years) would buy a new, range topping car.

But they won’t so I won’t- honestly, fuck them.

    I predict a V90 T8 purchase in a few weeks*

    * months

  • I’m def considering a merc, but I don’t want to sell the golf.

  • Oh right, I totally mis-understood it. It seems like much less of a deterrent now, it's basically a one off fee for new diesel car purchasers if they don't meet strict emissions on new cars.

  • honestly, fuck them

Two souls, united across the vast expanse of the cold north sea by a mutual hatred of Volvo dealers.

  • It does feel odd- clearly it's on me to hire a V90 T8 to see if I like it/it works for me, then apply to them for one.

Is it because you turned down their generous £500 offer?

  • I'd definitely drop a note to someone about this - someone like, say, the ceo.

I've had great and sustained success with companies customer service suddenly becoming incredible via this route.

Not saying you should buy one anyway, it'll probably give the dealership a good kick up the arse anyway.

  • If you are serious about investigating buying an V90 T8,
you should n't be pissing about with a dealership.
Volvo UK will have a specialist salesforce for enticing 'high net worth' clients,
(mespilus jr has a classmate whose father had such a role at Jaguar/Land Rover).

Find the contact, and state how you have been the victim of an attempted fraud,
    (the £500 offer),
and why you will not deal with your local Volvo dealership.

  • Then make donuts on their parking lot with your BMW

  • I'm not entirely sure I could carry off the impersonation required.

  • Show them your Porsche bills

  • Have had two different suede sparco wheels (with the yellow line) in the past and I used them bare handed and they were fine. Then I did wipe my hands before driving and steer with my finger tips, never putting my thumbs inside by the spokes.

Have you tried cleaning the wheels?

  • I could make them into a suit

  • Don't go car shopping in Croydon?

  • driving miss daisy thread >>>>>>>

I actually drive my cars. You know, hold the steering wheel like it's meant to be held, hoons, trackdays, skids. You should try it sometime.

  • What car do you think this is - 4.2 supercharged V8 and rear wheel drive.
