Not as much clearance as 6800/9000 and the new gen shimano R8000/9100 have even more clearance than last gen.
Single pivot
Centring is not as easy as shimano, requires ultra precise outer length.
Not the lightest eitherI mean you can make them work, some people even make Campag work but why willingly buy a sub optimal product.
R8000/9100 are fucking amazing. Merlin has some on discount atm.

But shimano levers pull more cable so their brakes will surely be designed around this and will be weaker with Sram levers no?

no, I used R8000 with etap levers and they worked as well as the eebrakes

Well, i have had red aero in the past (and still do on my trek) and love them. Im super particular with setup anyway, so no problem there. I would consider 8000 though (that was my next option)
