MMmmm Welwyn is a great idea, and that's @middleofnowhere and @Rod_Munch minds thinking alike. I'll investigate. Cheers hivemind

Welwyn has some busy roads if you're not doing them late, I reckon.
Potters Bar has a few, but it's not the flattest. E4 has The Moletrap 15.3 miles into a 28.4 mile route which isn't quite halfway but given it's just before a descent I think that makes up for it... http://www.themoletrap.co.uk/Welcome.html
The Gallery is a triumph

What time, roughly, will this possee be arriving at the Red Lion?
Which route? Straight westwards along the Uxbridge Road? -
• #262
I'd imagine we will be arriving in dribs and drabs throughout the evening. This is a bit of an in-joke and not an organised ride. I have always felt riding through London's rush hour is best done on an everyone for themselves basis as guiding a group through heavy traffic is tricky and could be a bit dangerous.
I will be heading straight up the Uxbridge Road.

Tho to identify ourselves as a group withing the group perhaps we should each wear a fig roll or carry a badger, you know, to help the uninitiated as a supplement to our secret handshake.

fig roll
In the spirit of the season, a mince pie surely?

Ride tonight in Ldn?
Yep, Potters Bar has Baker Arms in Bayford at about half way.
There is a pub on the Welwyn route I've always fancied stopping at. Just before the climb in Hexton, Google tells me it's called the Raven. No idea what it's actually like.
