  • Momo Prototipo is the classic 911 steering wheel. Get it in leather, you've deleted your centre console, right? So your interior is already a little more "retro"? It'll fit right in.

  • That extender looks pretty shocking anyway, you have to be salad fingers to turn the indicators on

  • Workshop porn

  • Isn’t the Porsche cup Momo actually just a version of a Prototipo with Porsche engraved on it, suede rim and £100 more expensive

  • I think you're right, I'd avoid a suede rim because it only took 6 months of irregular driving for mine to go manky AF. I'm thinking about getting a Nardi 330mm in leather to replace my OMP 300mm in suede.

  • I've heard that before about suede steering wheels how they wear over time, but just like suede shoes can't you just brush them? Unlike synthetic Alcantara where the material degrades and you can't rejuvenate it so to speak?

  • Yeah i brush my suede wheel and it's lasted really well but i rarely touch it with bare hands

Bare hands is the killer with suede steering wheels, i'm not totally sure why but i think it's just the dirt / sweat / detritus off your hands that flattens the pile off. I cleaned one once with muc off and a microfibre cloth and it came up really well once i'd cleaned all the dead skin off it

Momo now have a steering wheel online customiser too, like NikeID for Steering wheels

  • Or you have manky hands.

I recovered a steering wheel with fake suede, from a sofa, it is still good now after 9 months.

  • The Porsche one is indeed a Momo Prototipo, with Porsche engraved in it, a Porsche horn button etc.

  • Prototipo is only +40mm offset from flat in that case

  • It comes with a boss that adds to that I believe.

  • I don’t think it is. As @mcmyk says the Prototipo is quite flat, the Porsche wheel is well dishy.

  • In which case I may well be wrong.

Hefty - will you set fire to my car if you spy it with a cup wheel fitted?

  • Could be a Mod 07, 70mm dish

  • From Carnewal:

The Porsche Cup steering wheel sits 40mm closer to the driver compared to the standard 3 or 4 spoke steering wheel.

It sits closer and has a smaller diameter without blocking the instruments : All this make you drive 5 mls/hr faster :-).

    This is the total :

P93078 Cup steering wheel is 345 Euro

    Shipping ;15 euro

    Total : 360 +21%vat = 435,60 euro

This is an original Porsche part.

The Cup steering wheel comes with a 15mm spacer and the parts to make the horn work again and to disable the airbag light are also included.

  • Fake suede != real suede.

It's the oil and grease in your hands that kills the suede, if you spent as much time as you do driving your car rubbing your suede shoes with your bare hand, the result would be the same.

  • If you get a Porsche to Momo hub, then you will be able to fit spacers on that to make it sit closer to you. Wheel should be £150, hub in the region of £50 and some spacers will set you back another £30-50.

  • Quick Google suggests Prototipo is +20, Mod 07 is +70 as @mcmyk said, and the Cup is +40

  • bizarre really as the momo custom wheel thing i posted says 37mm

  • Well, fuck knows then

  • +70 is fucking deep, looking like a top fuel car deep.

    Momo Prototipo Heritage is +39

  • The extender thing is 55mm, so 40mm of dish in the wheel plus the 15mm spacer equals that.

  • @mashton has a Prototipo on the jeeb. /csb

  • i have a 350mm OMP corsica superleggero, 95mm dish
