  • The current £55 bid is about £5 too much. The forks aren't original to the frame: they're earlier and better quality. The frame is shit.

    The decal celebrating the anniversary of Reynolds 531 (not Raleigh) is usually accompanied by an actual tubing decal detailing what flavour of 531 was used.

    That there isn't one (together with the budget construction and budget paintjob) suggests not all of the frame is 531 and what there is, is plain gauge.

    Seller clueless too (built in '78, but the Reynolds decal), so I wouldn't place too much store in anything they've written.

  • Apologies. I'm not too up on the Raleigh side of things so shouldn't have been so hasty to post.

    I did question after posting on second glance due to any manufacturer of bike frames, a 50th anniversary is usually of much higher caliber tubing, detailing, pantograph work and so on. No original headbadge either and as you say, the Reynolds decal only mentions dates which could have been added with no relivance at all.
