  • This afternoon’s job. Rear needs my new drill which is coming on Sunday (old one released the smoke) and a bit of thin, flat metal of some sort to make an angle bracket.

  • could you post a pic of the arrangement at the top of the fork, please?

    the shop which fitted my GB thought it would be a good idea to punch a hole in the mudguard and secure with a bolt which locates into a nut somehow held in place by another bolt thought the brake drilling in the fork crown.

    it actually isn't a good idea. it rattles around like fuck.

  • That’s exactly how they work. But they obviously haven’t taken much care with it. I pack mine with metal and rubber washers to avoid any movement or rattling - both in the vertical (the bolt that goes through the guard itself) and the one passing through the brake hole which intersects it.

    They actually come with that hole in the guard already (at least in the front, you have to drill your own at the rear...)
