86,000 mile E61 M5 Touring- for £19,995.
I have a strong Ackbar presentiment.

It’s on eBay, hang on.
Other question- for the current German car the wheel adjusts for rake only.
In an ideal world the steering wheel would be closer to me.
Two options to achieve this- the Carnewal hub extender or the Porsche/Momo Cup wheel.
The extender is ~£550, the cup wheel is ~£300.
The Carnewal extender brings the wheel 55mm closer, I can’t find a figure for the Cup wheel, just “closer”.
Which would you go for, reader of this post, and why?

What's the deal with the triangle next to the N? Is it a German icon for fucked gearbox?
-
• #38357
Fun, yes. Fast, not so much.
Here’s a man I know going round in a 1965 911:
Toplols but the Fury would be on the limiter in top a lot.

"piss money away here" I think

Might be the traction control tell-tale?

Delicious.

Could just be empty fuel warning or a warning not to Rev engine while in neutral. My Audi does that. Although it does use the same triangle warning for "engine about to shit itself" " empty oil, again" "mechatronik fucked" etc etc...

With the fuel logo showing it could well just be ‘fuel reserve’ (50 Miles on my one).

I would want to see a picture or two of the service/warning screens in the idrive if it’s a long way to travel.

The cup wheel looks like the full dish Momo wheel I have in my rally car which is 70mm closer than a flat variant, but how much that is compared to your stock 996 wheel I’m not sure, it depends how much offset you get in the boss you need to mount the momo too

Cheap 2nd hand wheel that matches the distance you think you want, then the plate thingy once your sure what distance you want.
Tbh I'd be reticent to change a modern looking cars steering wheel. It usually looks a bit MAX power. Obviously there are some exceptions, but your Porsche isn't one imo.
This is where they look best

It just means there is a current 'Check Control' message stored, backed up by the bright yellow low fuel symbol, it stays up once the main yellow symbol disappears, any current messages will repeat themselves when you switch off the ignition.

That thought process is pretty much where I am with it I think- I don't like the look of the Momo for the car, but I could likely sell it for close to what I paid for it if it proves the case (as it were) and get the extending boss.

Also worth noting that suede wheels go to shit with regular use and no gloves, you want a leather one for normal use

Good point. I should get the boss, then. It's just so much money for what is, essentially, a big fucking washer.

Can you get tester to fab you up a big fucking washer?
-
• #38372
Unknown. It's a safety critical part, of course, so maybe my quibbling is silly. But, it is just a spacer.
I should have bought one before the pound to euro rate fell off a cliff
-
• #38373
I imagine it needs to carry the slip ring for the horn and other associated guff through it on top of being just a spacer
-
• #38374
Ok, I'll suck it up and order from Carnewal.

But! The price didn't include VAT, so it's £685 delivered. Too rich for my blood.
