I popped in some alliums, (white onions, shallots, red onions & garlic from Wilko), in October and thought I was chancing my luck. All seem to have germinated, despite the decreasing incidence of days with 15C. Are your Japanese onions tolerant of low germination temperatures? I was lucky enough, once to spend Xmas in Tokyo and was surprised how warm it was, never below 10C.
If I treat my Red Winter (overwinter) Onions the same as my Senshyu Japanese (overwinter) onions will I be ok? (I.e. Planting them out at the same time)
Or is there significant difference between the two onion varieties?
