  • Canal paths are no guarantee of safety. If you lived on the water, you'd know how bad things are there at the moment - we're seeing a huge spike in burglaries, vandalism, muggings and beatings, particularly on the canals. I'm in a secure marina, and we've had 3 incidents in the past week of actual or threatened violence to boaters outside the gates.

  • That was sort of my point, canal paths to me look as appealing as a dark alley just with a river along it. A few times I've worked out Brent way my route went along the canal for miles till I got to car giant and turned off to go past the ace cafe, would often see burned out mopeds and other signs of crime, similar when working in Barking going up the limehouse cut.
