Yeah. I should probably stop crying, leave my purse at home, and grow a pair.

Also I should have posted this in the football thread. Feel free to merge.

I would say given that what they're doing is a-bit-rubbish rather than totally-fucking-evil, and that you did your best to call them out on it, you can now support them guilt-free.

Ask yourself: "What would Justin Bieber do?"

That seems like a non sequitur.

More of a Zen koan I would say.

Thought I'd stumbled into the comment is free section of the guardian for a minute there.
I'd say if you want to like them, then just do. But if you like what they're doing but really can't take the macho attitude, you've got two choices:
- either try working with them & then change them from the inside
- or set up your own thing doing the same stuff as them but with better posters

At least they do have a female race (I over looked "girl" as a European translation thing) whilst RHC only did that this year. "Man against Man" and "Last Man Standing"... Yes, it is sexist, but they are age old sayings and are rooted into our culture of language... If you want to change anything, start with the little things, not something that is centuries old.
How to get over it? Immerse yourself in something positive. I highly recommend talking to the ladies at Shefix in Riga, Latvia. They type pretty good English and are very approachable about what they do. -

That's pretty funny but you are missing the point.
You ask yourself the question...
The answer is: Bieber would smoke some pot, throw eggs at his neighbour's house then crash his car.

Oh good, I'm part way there then.

In my emails....
"RAD RACE SUPPORT OF WOMEN'S CYCLING
Also all female riders be informed that we are hunting for the Last Woman Standing in Berlin too.
This will also be your first chance to take advantage of our attempt to promote women’s cycling.
Sign up and bring another female rider who can join the race for free !!!" -

Pinarello dropping a clanger here.

Doesen't Moscon ride a Pinarello? Seems like a silly non harming honest mistake .. they are too young.
I'll preface this by saying that I know this post has a Jeezian quality to it. My only defense is that it isn't pointed at anyone here or anywhere really except maybe myself (and also rad race i guess).
In Germany there is a newish bike posse, Rad Race. They organize rides and races and track stand competitions and alley cats etc I think.
Back in March they had their first races and their posters were up at the Berlin bike show. They talked about their events "Man against Man" "Last Man Standing" and a "girls race".
Something about that rubbed me the wrong way (euph) with the implicit sexism in there. I guess because it always does when this sort of shit is embedded in alternative stuff. I can't help it, I am a product of Gilman st, Tim Yo, Maximumrockandroll, etc.*
At any rate, this conversation followed
which resulted in me writing them off as being a bunch of dicks and fuck them etc. It was even worse to me that they were sticking to their guns so hard in this matter.
Fast forward to now: They have progressed and are doing cool things like ride to Norway, forming a race team that goes around doing crits and whatnot, and other stuff. I want to like/support them, but find that I can't bring myself to do it.
It's weird that my horse is so high here when I am, in reality, a horrible person who thinks and says the worst things.** Almost always.
I know this story is cool and I should have just written it in my diary but I am just wondering (out loud, in public) how to get over it. Or if I even should.
*I realize that this probably means fuckall to you, but if any of you were in Northern California in the 90s, you know what I mean.
**My track record is especially flawed with regard to exactly the type of language seen here. I consistently refer to women as "dudes" or "chicks" or even "girls". [EDIT: Also seen: "guys"]
