  • How much is a fair price for a gold iPhone 6s plus 64GB? The price on ebay seems to vary from just over £200 to about £350. The good condition ones, as mine is except for a coupel of very small scratches on the back, seem to go for around the £300 mark. So would £280 be a fair price? A friend of a friend is asking, so no mate's rate required.

  • Decided to buy an iPhone 8 plus as @duncs linked me to an offer on Very.co.uk

I'm still a bit skeptical about if its legit but if it works out then it will cost £640 for the 64gb version which isn't much more than I was looking at for a 7 plus.

  • I just threw away a £30 voucher from them, I'll see if it's still in the bin and if so, will send it to you. I think they deal is you buy £60+ stuff then you claim £10 a week for 3 weeks or sth like that. Never shopped with them but they keep posting vouchers to me...

  • Another question, just getting ready to transfer some but not al the crap from my old iPhone to the new. If I remember correctly, Whatspp and Viber save data onto either thier own server or iCloud? Am I right?

  • Yeah, WhatsApp moves happily between iPhones and between Android. It's iPhone <-> Android that's a faff.

(How they haven't fixed that is beyond me for such a massively popular app. Anyway.)

  • I was about to export all the chats like I did when i had an android phone briefly and quickly realised it's not for me...

    Thanks.

  • Guess my new iPhone is going back for a replacement then... the top left corner's not been glued on properly, I'd just spent the last 10 mins cleaning the residue with my figner nail hoping it'd be alright, but no. When shining some light on it, there is clearly a gap between the casing and the screen, very very small, like less than hairline small but it's very obviously there when compare to the other 3 corners and the rest of the rim when it's completely sealed.

My bad luck with Apple never seems to stop (I received a dent MBP beginning this year with fully intact packaging) plus the fact that I am very shortsighted means I can see the smallest of details some might not be able to.

  • Got extra iPhone X Space Black in 256gb.

If anybody wants it for RRP, as skip waiting time, they can have it.
It arrived on Friday, still sealed in actual cardboard delivery box.

    Bought from Apple UK itself.

Was supposed to be for my brother who pulled out.

    Cheers

  • So the iMac Pro is going to have an A10 co-processor for security stuff and handling the boot process. Seems massively overkill for that task and fully expect a bit of a surprise about what it's for.

  • Yeah this sounds super interesting, I wonder if dual CPU will be the future with A class handling low level?

  • Totally see that happening. It's probably the first step towards ARM Macs, though.
The Axx processor could even be the main CPU and the X86 stuff could just be for legacy software and heavy lifting.

There's no way they're just using an iPhone 7's SOC just for "Hey Siri"...

  • Yeah, sounds like where it would go... only question is how Bootcamp could/would work but I think M Soft is woking on ARM based Windows too...

  • Not sure if Apple would let another OS (especially Windows) run on what is essentially iPhone hardware. Maybe further down the road they'll make a beefier desktop/laptop line of chips but this very much smells like they're dipping their toes in.

They could probably even emulate X86...

  • Also, remember how great the battery life when in sleep mode was with Power PC...

  • I might be getting my chips mixed up, but.. https://www.theverge.com/2017/10/18/16495010/microsoft-windows-10-arm-laptops-battery-life no?
They prob wouldn't let Bootcamp Windows utilise all the awesomeness of dual CPU though... maybe?

  • Whoah, didn't see that.

Main issue I see is Steam running in an emulator...

  • Face ID?

  • Seems obvious they should include it across the board. No mention of it being in the iMac Pro but never say never. Also, they already have touch ID on the MBP but having both would be good...

  • Good testing!

  • Er, wow – that's a real clanger. Apparently you don't even need physical access if screen sharing is enabled.

Gonna hold out on updating for a few more months.
