  • :) - yes its Tomato paste/puree

  • Can you get vegan cat urine ?

  • Do you not know how they farm that stuff, force-feeding cats lager - it's obscene...

  • It was fucking delicious, their buffalo sauce and ranch dressing is so good. 10/10 will eat again at lunch.

  • Left over sweet potato curry for lunch today.
Proper banging meal for a cold, drizzly day on a hillside.

  • 1 question, can I microwave the leftover seitan for my lunch today?

I have done this, did not die.

  • Seitan lasts for a week in the fridge, gets a bit dry and chewy beyond that but prob won’t kill you.

  • Most vegan stuff will last way longer than meat or dairy equivalents. Be careful with lentils though, I gave myself a pukey evening recently by eating some I hadn't refrigerated properly i.e. at all.

  • Wish I was eating sweet potato curry outside on a hillside :-(
    What's that burner / stove?

  • Ha! Great to hear!

  • This thread will probably get even more tempting now that everybody's trying to out-edmundro edmundro. :)

  • Made some nice dal this weekend... Subbed ghee with olive oil which is even nicer, IMO (coconut would probably be good as well).
Used toor dal lentils and chucked in plenty of cumin seeds, onion, turmeric and ginger.

Will probably do a big batch every sunday for lunches now. It's dirt cheap and pretty good. Kind of wish we had a pressure cooker though, as the fuckers took about three hours to cook - if you like it gloopy.

  • Good ol' fashioned Trangia

  • A few pages late, but if anyone else is visiting Warsaw, i'd also highly recommend Lokal Vegan Bistro (especially the 'schabowy'); their cake-shop-sibling Lokal Dela Krem, and Krowarzywa for great burgers.
As @Oliver Schick mentioned, there's almost endless options if you check out happycow too.

Another note RE: vegan fish - the best one I've found is sold at Wing Yip in Waddon/Croydon, and looks like this - makes for a great goan fish curry as well! The same brand also does chicken-style satay skewers, which are amazing and ridiculously moreish.

  • Yup, battered trangia I’ve had since Cubs. All the non-stick has burnt off and the burner is a touch leaky but for bike touring and winter lunches it can’t be beat.
Ideally I’d trade it in for the smaller model or one of the fancy ultralight versions made by other brands but in reality it’ll outlast the apocalypse so I doubt I’ll ever replace it.

  • Bought this recently. Lots of yummy recipes.

  • Temple of Seitan is great. I was expecting little after reading so much hype, but it was delicious.

  • OK, I've just bought ^, A Vegan Taste of Thailand, and Vegan Stoner's Cookbook. Looking forward to trying all of them.

  • Ooh... Will check that out. Nice one.

It was actually Chana Dal that I used... Just looked it up and it has a glycemic index of 8, which is bonkers.

  • Some good warming stodge in here too. It’s also cheap as chips
