The Omnium mini max is ideal for shopping, if you get bread tray (the brown ones) you can easily fit 3 full reusable bags for life in them.
Jimmi uses one of his bar extenders and inner tubes to build that laid back seat thing which also means he can store a bag underneath it at the front.
As I said before the weight is higher up than on a bullitt but if you're a confident cyclist and your kid isn't moving around loads, omnium's are pretty easy to handle even with a heavy load.
Highly recommend sticking one of the massive XT cassettes on the back, helps with hills, moving at slow speeds around traffic and getting started when you're fully loaded.
I would also say that the mini max is super fun to ride when it's not fully loaded, much snappier than the full omnium cargo without sacrificing much of the 'max. load'
