G-one G-one G-one G-one G-one G-one
I'm still running on a set that's near enough totally won out centrally. Tyre still grips like a champ and still won't puncture.

I'll be almost exclusively riding on roads - admittedly winter ones and some crummy British ones.
I had completely discounted the G-One Speeds but the Road CC review says they're still really fast on the road

Yup.
I've moved on from Open Corsa's, to S-ones, to G-ones. I still can't believe how fast and sticky a tyre it is. I've found them to be as fast as the Corsa's, but then again, I'm no racer.
Even the 650 fatties were most excellent.
Only issue I have with them is longevity. Not the longest lasting. -

My experience of S-Ones is great in the dry, prone to letting go in the wet.
My winter bike will get G-Ones.
-
• #1681
My experience is that pro ones cut up easily in winter and are a better summer tyre.
No experience of the g1 but I would strongly recommend the IRC Formula Pro x-guard. Not the cheapest tubeless out there but I’ve been really impressed. -
• #1682
Another vote for IRC X-Guards. £100 a pair, but then they've outlasted every other tyre I've ever used – no p-words so far.
-
• #1683
Hmmm such a shame they're never on discount

@Mikey5000 thanks for the suggestions guys, definitely both out of budget though.
to be honest im starting to think it might be a bit of a faff for now, as i'd still have to buy a tubeless kit and the guy who sold me the wheels seems to be using 2 different rim tapes (one which does not look tubeless ready) and 1 tubeless valve. (annoying considering he advertised them as "tubeless ready" new they come tubeless ready with the tape and valves.

I'd say its worth it but if its out of your budget go with GP4000SII with butyl inner.
If the previous owner of the wheels was using it with tubes you'd need new tape anyway as in most cases the valve hole will be too big and it'll be a struggle to get them sealed.
From my experience, with the initial cost tubeless is 100% worth it.
-
• #1686
I mean I could stretch to it, but it'll literally double the cost of the tyres plus whatever extras I need, which could be spent on other bits.
Like supposedly compressionless cables ;)
-
• #1687
cables obv should be a priority
-
• #1688
Are you also using the tape that the wheels (mine are Spline R24) come with, or did you apply fresh?
I'm thinking of keeping the DT tape but putting another wrap on top.
-
• #1689
I'm using the DT valves (bought separate) on WTB rims with 75% whatever tape SBC use and 25% DT Swiss.
Not very helpful.
-
• #1690
Ah!
Not to worry, it didn't occur to me that you bought them separately.

My 1 liter bottle of effetto mariposa finished yesterday, do I buy the same again?
What is this 'race' variant of Stans? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/stans-no-tubes-race-sealant/
Someone on here said Bontrager TLR is good, some say Orange Seal is the best.
Do we have a definite answer to this like 'marathon supreme' in tyres thread?

What is this 'race' variant of Stans?
Bigger crystals so it fills holes quicker.
-
• #1693
so its good? better/best?
-
• #1694
Better apparently, but you can also put glitter in your sealant
-
• #1695
put glitter in your sealant
A litre of the race version purchased.
Thanks sptr

Glitter's not that good as a chunkulator as it's made of small bits of flat sheet rather than chunks. I find polenta works well as a chunkulator, or the granular stuff sold to model-makers to recreate grass surfaces on models.

I bought a 1L bottle but I've still not even ridden the bloody tubeless wheel!
-
• #1698
I’ve never seen them anywhere other than the cycle clinic. Small independent. Worth supporting imho.
-
• #1699
Apparently you can clog the valve with that and you have to put it straight in the tire. Potential mess

Dries up faster apparently.
Tubeless debate for my new bike
28mm Schwalbe Pro One or Schwalbe G-One Speed?
Is there much performance sacrifice for the G-One Speed? Bike will be audax, winter bike ....
