What's your take on brakeless fixies?
-
• #6532
440 for Light Bicycle, 391 for Enve
Different hole drillings but I know which I'd rather having seen the insides of the Enve one...

• #6534
They're shit, don't have adjustability or swappable lenses. Not nearly as good as the 15 dollar Foakleys.

being a lb man myself have to say this pic ups my confidence riding 55mm deep rims set up tubeless :-)
I was kind of scared when pumping them up to 7bars for the first time

Got one of the oft-purchased lay back 2 bolt carbon seatposts. Tried to fit it to my bob jackson but it looks like the seatpost has come up a bit small, checked it with a vernier and it's about 27mm rather than 27.2... I've messaged the seller, will see what they say.
-
• #6545
I had that issue with mine as well, solved with a 1.5x1.5cm beer can shim. Had to spread the clamp area just a bit to get it jammed in there though.
-
• #6546
Yeah this is to fit on a Bob Jackson with the integrated steel clamp thing. It looks like it's really pinching the two sides in...
I've got one of the fake enve ones on my kinesis and I'd thought that it fitted fine (it's been on there for most of this year with no issues) but just measured that and it's 27.2 across but only 27.0 deep (or the other way round).
Shim might be the way forward. Anything readily available that's around 0.1mm thick for a shim?
-
• #6547
Coke/beer/whatever can is the right thickness. But obviously you're going to have to be careful that it doesn't bond to the frame, and it's ugly.
-
• #6548
Haha, seller replied saying:
"It is normal 27.2 seatpost will be 27.0-27.2mm".
I replied saying "No it isn't, and your description doesn't mention that either."

can you post it to Birmingham?

Is there any far east version of Rodeo Spork? I mean a fork with all the holes, for fenders, bottles, a rack, and most importantly an internal dyno hub cable route.
gave me an excuse to tell this story. I think I'll make a thread or post it somewhere more logical later on with pics.
Just had an aluminum seat post stuck in a 20 year old steel Voodoo. I threw the wrath of god at it unsuccessfully. This is including hacking at it from the inside, but it was too long to do in a controlled manner and I risked cutting into the frame.
I ended up dissolving it in concentrated NaOH. Worked exceedingly well. It took about 8 hours of me puttering around the house and neighborhood while changing out the solution every hour or so.
highly recommended if you can sacrifice (or protect) the paint. At the end, this technique proved to be smarter and less damaging then everything else I tried.
