gave me an excuse to tell this story. I think I'll make a thread or post it somewhere more logical later on with pics.
Just had an aluminum seat post stuck in a 20 year old steel Voodoo. I threw the wrath of god at it unsuccessfully. This is including hacking at it from the inside, but it was too long to do in a controlled manner and I risked cutting into the frame.
I ended up dissolving it in concentrated NaOH. Worked exceedingly well. It took about 8 hours of me puttering around the house and neighborhood while changing out the solution every hour or so.
highly recommended if you can sacrifice (or protect) the paint. At the end, this technique proved to be smarter and less damaging then everything else I tried.
it had a good run. Three years of bashing including mess stuff (crazy heavy bag) so not complaining.
if i only could remove it now as it seems a big stuck :D oh well at least its not alu
