Interesting(!) listening to Mrs May at the Lord Mayor's do just now. Lots of talk about an economy based on free markets (how surprising, wishful thinking) and Russia as one of the main threats to global stability (as perhaps a deflection from 'enemies' closer to home?) Oh, and a bit about a positive Brexit would be good at the end. Wonder what the 'paying' audience thought?

I like our Miele 5000 although it's not particularly light, uses bags and a bit clumsy to lug around. Sucks like you wouldn't believe.
-

The only people who don’t own a Miele vaccuum cleaner are people who have never used a Miele vacuum cleaner.
-
• #9980
I know you like to help people hoover up a bit of knowledge but there's no need to make such a miele out of it

And sort out the NHS
Almost half of doctors from other European Economic Area countries working in the UK are considering leaving in the wake of the EU referendum result, with almost a fifth having already made solid plans to relocate, a BMA survey has found.

(If by 'sort out' you mean mess it up so people give in to privatisation)

Or who've had a Miele vaccuum cleaner and opted for something baggless, lighter and more compact once it broke and a replacement was required.
-
• #9988
Had a Miele, had a Dyson etc. Now a Henry because they just work forever.
Anyway - weren't we due to get those 58 sector analyses released today?
-
• #9989
Henrys are great. There's a reason builders use them. You can even run them without a bag.
I'm surprised folks that buy Dyson and Miele stuff are that fussed by what their cleaners use.
-
• #9990
We have one of each
Miele because it had great filtering
Henry that can cope with fluids - clearing up dog vomit, leaky dishwasher etc
Cordless Dyson for sucking up wasps and hornets - I have to carry an epi pen so being able to suck them into the whirlwind of doom at over an arms length is awesome -

I've a Henry, and I love that Numatic is still a ltd. not owned by an investment firm or whatever :)
Nice wee things, last forever.
Anyhoo:

MPs will later start going over the small print of a mammoth piece of legislation seen as crucial to Britain's departure from the EU.
Labour and rebel Tory MPs are gearing up to inflict defeats on the government as ministers battle to get the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill into law.
Brexit Secretary David Davis tried to head off trouble on Monday by offering MPs a vote on the final Brexit deal.
Not holding much hope on this "rebelling" I have heard it before...

We're getting a Henry if our miele gives up the ghost.
Not watched it yet, but it seems Ken Clarke is taking no prisoners in his speech?
-
• #9994
Clarke ends by urging the government to reject its own “silly amendments thrown out because they got a good article in the Daily Telegraph”.
While I don't agree with much of his politics, Ken Clarke seems to be the only currently active Tory politician with any substance. (Maybe there are others on the backbenches, but if there are I don't know them.) It's strange looking back how even some of the 90s horror show(er) comfortably outperform today's rabble in that department, wrong though they were.
-
• #9995
Yeah, I can't remember much about Ken Clarke's history, but he stands out as a clear and objective thinker among a group otherwise driven by self-interest. I suspect part of his outlook may result from the fact that he's reached the age where he is content to speak his mind, and has little concern for furthering his career.

This makes you think
Honda UK telling MPs it imports 2 million components a day from Europe on 350 trucks and holds 1 hours worth of stock. It would take 18 months to put customs admin in place but every 15 minutes of delay would cost £850,000 a hour. That's not including WTO tariffs of 10% and 4.5%.

Oh, obviously, he can say what he likes. He's been out in the cold for long enough and knows he's got nothing to lose.

He was pro the UK joining the Euro. Can't be right about everything, I guess, although Brexit would be even more of a shitshow if we were trying to leave the Euro at the same time

Fresh ashcroft poll

As usual the leavers care less about EU people in the UK...but also less about UK people in the EU [compared to average/remain]
People seem to think the EU wants a bad deal for the UK to stop others leaving (erm, based on the great performance of the UK team???) and not many are that confident the UK team is even trying.
