(I edited this post so there's at least an image on top of the page for I flood this thread with chatter at the moment..hey look - a mattress!)
@spotter it's a good thing @plagways saw this five minutes before me, as I really need to hold my monies (to buy huge amounts of film, develper, fix, etc. )

Portra 160 off amazon is close to £35 for 5
It's worth it though..

I’d admired these but didn’t register they were film. They’re stunning.
Yea, aren't they.
I actually found them google image searching for "fuji acros 100".
Honestly I don't care neither for the fashion element nor the tilt-shifty focus that's going on, but the tones are so gorgeous it makes me want to lick the screen.
It's this one you find via the image search, it's basically the image that made me settle on using acros only for the next months.
Oh, wait, actually now I'm debating whether I shouldn't go for Adox CMS II which seems to deliver quite nicely as well (check this - shot on 35mm)... -

Welcome back!
Danke!

There's no worst season to shoot film!
Yes, you are absolutely right, it's no excuse.
There's only so much light though, alas maybe not the best time of year to settle on shooting iso 100 film, but hey.Winter is bleak. Tell the story
I do have some stories from past Berlin winters, as a photographer and also as a cyclist, but I doubt you do want to hear them

Just ordered a Domke Filmguard to be safe - £20 for a small one that’ll take 9 rolls of 35mm - plenty space for me.
The question is do I put it in hand luggage or hold?Just ordered 5 rolls of Kodak Gold 200. I like how colour plus comes out, so figured I’d give it a shot - portra and the like becoming so expensive!
I really struggle using Silverfast. It seems so unintuitive, slow and frustrating to use compared to Epson Scan. And because I don’t know how to use it properly, it seems to offer no advantage over Epson Scan either.
If I’m perfectly honest, I’ve been pretty disappointed with my home scans. They always look shit and it takes ages, lol. FilmDev’s prices are so good I’m just going to use them and keep the scanner for hi res stuff.
Oh, and as for the book, I got the first proof copy the other day. Really happy with how it looks and feels, proper chuffed! A few of the images are too dark, but apart from that I think it’s pretty much there!

^^ I haven't been shooting much lately because of the lack of light,
Does anyone have some grey weather/dark shots I can see as inspiration to get out there?!

Really long exposures with a pinhole? This was 2 minutes while driving.

The question is do I put it in hand luggage or hold?
Well.. Domke says FilmGuard is not intended for use in checked luggage, which is exposed to much higher doses of x-rays. So it's always a good idea to first store film in FilmGuard bags and then pack them in your carry-on luggage, rather than checked luggage.
I figured if I had / would have had one of these in my hand luggage they would have made me open it anyway, force feeding the contents through their fucking scanner, as they "can't see what's inside it otherwise", thus defeating the whole purpose of the bag.
There are nice / less paranoid security people as well, but my recent experiences have been very strict.
Like I said - good luck!Just ordered 5 rolls of Kodak Gold 200.
Out of curiosity - how much is it were you are?
I just been to said drugstore this noon and checked - it's still €7.95 for a 3 pack of 36 here..I really struggle using Silverfast. It seems so unintuitive, slow and frustrating to use
Yes, it totally sucks ass!

A mystery, how this has become the widespread professional / semi-professional scanning software.
And look at how expensive it is, it's ridiculous.
But what are you going to do.
I have never really got along with VueScan either, and my scanner doesn't even have a native software.
I'm really jealous you have something like FilmDev, which seems affordable and high quality.
The options we have in Germany are €10 a roll for dev and shit scans, €20 for dev and okay scans, and a fortune for proper scans.
: [it seems to offer no advantage over Epson Scan either.
..well, to be fair I think it does; like the multi sampling, ICE is good with proper settings, making custom presets for films is great (albeit mega fiddly), etc.
It is capable, it's just completely horrible to use.
For about a year I tagged my photos on tumblr #fuckingsilverfastOh, and as for the book, I got the first proof copy the other day. Really happy with how it looks and feels, proper chuffed!
Nice!
I really have to do a book some day.
At least a fucking zine.. -

Yea like @mi7rennie said welcome to the pinhole season..

So good to have you back ^ .....

£19.00 for 5 x 36exp, so £3.80/roll. Not great, but not awful. Fuji c200 is usually £4/roll in shops.
I try Silverfast, but fail at the first hurdle of trying to select the scanning area. Frame detection doesn’t seem to work at all!

Lovely pinhole image btw!

Thank you both!
I thought I did share these already a good while ago; they're from a fun project from back in the day (when I got massive discounts on film and developement) - made a pinhole out of a cookie box, with a polaroid pack film holder attached to the back..

€5 - plus the cost to send them the negs (and back to your place) via recorded mail..
..you know what, this might be interesting still. Thank you, I just dropped them a line.
Realized they actually offer both Noritsu and Frontier ! -

Slightly worried about the future of colour film. Fuji are dropping multiple lines and Kodak's stock is tanking. It's all a bit precarious when there's only two companies making colour film.
Worrying needlessly ?

I worry that the only slide film soon might be Ektachrome.

• #14899
If it gets launched. I can certainly see E6 going.

Apparently it's coming early next year, but will really be gutted if/when Velvia & Provia go.
Well yes, He sees everything, of course, but I think nefarious was asking about real people. :)
