You're probably right. Saying that, i really want one of these

You might be overthinking what 'appeals' to me. This isn't a fashion bike and in fact the less I like it the faster I ride it - it's a potential ultra race bike and with that in mind there's a very limited criteria...
- One of few frames that fits
- Flat mount disc ready
- Di2 ready
- Takes big rubber
I already have BB30 bikes and don't have issues with them because I have fully sick wrench skillz.
Two things about this bike that did cross my mind whilst having a shit earlier today were:
- How much does the non Hi-Mod frame cost?
- Those stupid all-in-one bars are useless to me, what to do? #brodouevenaerobar
What's wrong with it?
- One of few frames that fits

Flat mount disc ready
Di2 ready
Takes big rubberLOADS more in the category that will probably fit you and I am not talking race fit either.
How much does the non Hi-Mod frame cost?
Probably too much as they like to sell full bikes.
Those stupid all-in-one bars are useless to me, what to do?
Thats only for hi mod I think.
What's wrong with it?
I mean nothing really but its weird to like synapse when there are so many other bikes in this category.

LOADS more in the category that will probably fit you and I am not talking race fit either.
Feel free to list them and I'll let you know if they'll fit or not.
Probably too much as they like to sell full bikes.
I want either a number or a "no, it's hi-mod or the high road"
It's not about liking the Synapse. It's about what fits and meets my requirements. I've never liked green bikes and for years actively disliked Cannondales but like I said, it fits, the 2018 version crossed my radar. The Datum was another option but it seems to be twice the price now. The Pivot Vault and the Specialized Diverge should also work but the Vault isn't that common and the Spesh uses some weird fucking wheel setup.

I'll make a list .. whats your budget?
-
• #9133
I don't have a budget but feel free to exclude any bullshit boutique twenty year waiting list offerings.
-
• #9134
The Datum was another option but it seems to be twice the price now.
I'll use Datum as a benchmark then. It still the best in the category. Carbon?
-
• #9135
Here's a head start:
Kinesis 4S Disc was ~£600
Datum FS was ~£800 (now ~1500?)
2016 Synapse ~£1000
Pivot Vault was ~£1800
2016 Diverge £2350-£4000, bike, 12mm front/back
Focus Cayo Disc - 142x12mm thru axle - ?
Boardman Endurance SLR Disc - ?
Trek Domane 6.9 Disc - 56cm - £6000, bit shortI'm not a frame material nazi - own and race steel, alu, carbon...
-
• #9136
jeez, you are serious. Alright, I'll get going.
Focus has Paralane now.Trek Domane 6.9 Disc - 56cm - £6000, bit short
Reach is short you mean? Can be sorted with a stem no?
-
• #9137
That's cut down, you should see my detailed lists...
If I wrote that it's a bit short, it might've been borderline even with a shorter stem, I can't remember. My sizing is done with proper handling in mind, ie. nothing outside the 90-110mm stem range. It's finicky because it has to work as a road position as well as with clip-on aerobars.
googles Paralane
-
• #9138
makes sense, can you give me a reach range? 375-385mm? If you are ok with spacers aesthetically spacers can solve the stack.
-
• #9139
Paralane looks too tall.
https://www.evanscycles.com/focus-paralane-105-2017-road-bike-EV308654Aiming for around 565/395 stack/reach. No fucking spacers*.
*I'm fine with spacers.

• #9140
too tall.
-20 deg stem?
Trek does a midway fit called 'H2' which is not as tall as 'endurance' geo but not as short as race. Emonda SL Disc could be perfect if you are ok with not having mudguard mounts .. takes 32c I think.

BMC Road machine? :)

Why buy a frame that's too tall and put a stupid stem on it? slap
Where's their feckin' geo chart? It's just got some rider height vs. frame size shit.
-
• #9146
at the bottom: https://www.trekbikes.com/gb/en_GB/bikes/road-bikes/performance-road/%C3%A9monda/%C3%A9monda-sl-6-disc/p/1441950-2018/
56 has 387mm reach and 577mm stack
-
• #9147
569 / 371, taller and 20mm too short.
Kinesis was more like 582/396 so might be workable (I can't remember spacer layout on it) but then handling suffers with+20mm on the stem.

Tyre clearance? Discs?

• #9149
Might fit. Flat mount? Di2? Tyre width limit? Can you buy frame-only? How much?

Yes, Yes, 32c, Yes, https://www.hargreaves-cycles.co.uk/m10b0s25p8096/TREK-Emonda-SL-Disc-Frameset-2018
BB90 is a much better standard, restricts to 24mm axles though so check your PM.
