French headset

Posted on
  • Anyone got a cheap French headset, before I get a velo orange one?

  • I have a very nice stronglight B10 needlebearing resin headset I was saving for a French build. Super quality and weighs only 68g
Also a really nice 3ttt French fit stem.

  • How cheap is cheap?

I have a french threaded Hatta Swan which is on a beater frame, along with a french threaded bottom bracket.

Would be happy with £45 for the frameset with headset & BB

  • no one can beat that price vince its a real deal

  • Are they black? Ideally I’m after something shiny-ish but I’d be interested to know how much you’re after for it (posted as I’m in Bristol).

I’ve actually got a 3ttt stem on this bike already, but cheers!

  • That’s a flipping steal but I’m in Bristol, so assume that would add considerably to the hassle on your part and cost on my part. Would you consider splitting the headset (I probably wouldn’t if I were you as it would make their frame harder to shift I guess!)

  • I have just realised that the brand new Velo Orange ones are only £22.50 - that's a very reasonable price for a brand new headset.

I would personally not look for a used one.

You could also purchase used BSA threaded forks and use a standard headset

  • Yes black and silver - I reckon Vince's frame, headset and bb is a bargain though .

  • Good spot - I’d not seen them quite that cheap. I think you’re probably right - that’s pretty cheap for a new (non bsa) headset.

It’s for a track bike I have with OG forks - Don’t really want to split out the frame

    Cheers for the link!
