It's hardly a MAMIL machine, seems too sensible for that. They're supposed to be on race bikes that are setup far too long and low to be ridden properly, knees splaying around beer belly kinda thing. This thing appears to be disc-brake only, 32mm tyre, lightweight adventure race bike.
Maybe I should visit an Evans.

That's what they were aiming for, yeah. Given that the Evo can now take largish rubber I'd be surprised if the team uses the Synapse for Roubaix and whatnot.
They are going to boil it down to:
Wanna race bikes? Evo / C12
Wanna have fast fun on road and gravs? Synapse.
Wanna have fun on road, gravs, and light trails? Slate.
There is one in my size at my local evans that I'm tempted to take out for a spin....they look nice! and I'm usually anti-mamil machines...
