  • Ah yes I do remember that! Haha
I’ll shout do a skid next time I spot you. And dibs if you sell it :)

  • Looks like one I had a while ago, had no lockout, just a plastic topcap that screwed ontop. Might have had rebound adjust, not sure.

  • Ah, ok. Just a top cap...but unlike a normal top cap.. .

Might just put some blue tack in the hole for now till I know the rest of the bike works...

  • Is it also 10 speed?

A new CAAD 12 would probably be a better buy with R8000 or something, especially if you want to run 25 or 28mm tyres

  • yep, just a plastic topcap which you could thread on.

  • Well... that ain’t right.

Easiest way to find out what should have been there is to find the bike in the catalogue.

    It’s a caad4 right? Which number?

It would be unusual for a bike that’s reasonably modern not to have a lock out dial.

  • Right, think I've found it. It's a 2001 F400. Pretty basic. The catalogue looks like no lockout or anything fancy. Anyone know where I'd source a top cap for something like this?

Plan is to use my spares box to go 1×10, drop bars, 2.0 kojacks and mudguards as a winter all road split. Like my Genesis Fortitude which im selling but lighter and cheaper. The only things I need to buy is a shorter stem and tyres.

Let's see how we go. May do a current projects thread.

  • Fork is possibly a Super Fatty M? Or P-bone M?

So it's 80mm or 60mm travel but the spring is, well, a spring, and the damping is provided by some plastic shit which has probably atrophied so the fork is effectively running without compression or rebound damping.

As above, there was supposed to be a plastic cap that screws on top. The part number is listed as HD213 but it's not the correct part as that returns a lockout dial.

So yea just seal it up with something. Bad things happen if water gets in. If there's no hydraulics, then the stuff coming out the bottom is possibly a result of water getting in or someone's attempt to lubricate the bearings in the fork.

thanks new to roadie so the betyer bet would be canyon

  • Anyone riding the 2018 Synapse yet?

Are there many manufacturers making 25.4mm seatposts for 'dales?

  • There is one in my size at my local evans that I'm tempted to take out for a spin....they look nice! and I'm usually anti-mamil machines...

  • It's hardly a MAMIL machine, seems too sensible for that. They're supposed to be on race bikes that are setup far too long and low to be ridden properly, knees splaying around beer belly kinda thing. This thing appears to be disc-brake only, 32mm tyre, lightweight adventure race bike.
Maybe I should visit an Evans.

That's what they were aiming for, yeah. Given that the Evo can now take largish rubber I'd be surprised if the team uses the Synapse for Roubaix and whatnot.

They are going to boil it down to:

Wanna race bikes? Evo / C12
Wanna have fast fun on road and gravs? Synapse.
Wanna have fun on road, gravs, and light trails? Slate.

  • Except Cannondale aren't bringing the Slate to the UK anymore

  • The sound of nobody caring is deafening.

  • Not marketed in the UK for model year 2019 I guess. I don't know the specifics. I can't say I'd be surprised if they decided not to bring it over.

  • Anyway, it's the Synapse I'm interested in. It was in my sights last year and the new model is quite a lot better.

  • Credit card. Scheritt. Good bike shop. GO NOW.

  • I haz credit card. What's the Scherrit for? Good bike shop?

Order online, build it, thrash it.

I might just use the Tarmac, it's nice with fat rubber on old wheels and not treating it like it's precious.

  • That's the 2017 model that Sigma probably Intended to carry through to 2018 but now cannondale aren't shipping us any.

Yeah it's no surprise really though, they sold pretty badly.

  • I suspect if Cannondale stopped selling off-road bikes in the UK very few people would care - beyond a bunch of shop sponsored XC whippets who get their race rigs for free.

  • What would be a good price for a 2015 Super Six Evo 105?
