Don't fuck around any more and always insist on getting them hand checked.
This.
Good luck though.Long story short hardly anybody of these security people knows what film is anymore, but they seem to have learned that "it only affects ISO 800 and above", and that "radiation in the plane is much worse anyway compared to the machine" - so they tell you everythings is going to be fine.
You can then explain them you're photographing for x years now and are experienced, and that it does matter, and then - if you're lucky - they'll scan it by hand / with these little strips, and you can chat about your antique Rollei for a minute; if not they basically tell you it is going through the machine.
What are you going to do.
On my last flight they toasted a bag full of 120 film, including old Portra 800 and even Ektachrome. I almost started to cry.

Just ordered a Domke Filmguard to be safe - £20 for a small one that’ll take 9 rolls of 35mm - plenty space for me.
The question is do I put it in hand luggage or hold?Just ordered 5 rolls of Kodak Gold 200. I like how colour plus comes out, so figured I’d give it a shot - portra and the like becoming so expensive!
I really struggle using Silverfast. It seems so unintuitive, slow and frustrating to use compared to Epson Scan. And because I don’t know how to use it properly, it seems to offer no advantage over Epson Scan either.
If I’m perfectly honest, I’ve been pretty disappointed with my home scans. They always look shit and it takes ages, lol. FilmDev’s prices are so good I’m just going to use them and keep the scanner for hi res stuff.
Oh, and as for the book, I got the first proof copy the other day. Really happy with how it looks and feels, proper chuffed! A few of the images are too dark, but apart from that I think it’s pretty much there!
This times 100.
Too many rolls knackered. Don't fuck around any more and always insist on getting them hand checked.
