Quick question, is this for aesthetic or practical reasons?
Safety-wise, a little extra room is a good idea. -

105 crank
Which 105?
-
• #87404
Practical. The slot needs to be longer, the guard won't clear the tyre as is.

Gotcha.

sorry, the 5800 I think it is. 11 speed. 2017

wolftooth? - any good?

If you do use a rotary burr, try to get a fine one as opposed to coarse, takes longer to remove material but less prone to jumping and "chattering".

Probably as good as you are going to get at the price, unless you go for grind stones instead.

I didn't get it, just wondered what it was. What do you use yours for?

Beard development.

It does make you wonder what @TheBrick(Tommy) would think of it. :)

I pretty much consistently ride in the middle of the cassette - roughly the 4/8 'gear range', is the inboard offset more to help chainline in the lower gears?

Yes

Why the fuck cant I turn my L screw on my fd.
Its not going anywhere, been soaking in oil a few days.
H is fine, there is no visible rust/corrosion. I clean everything before fitting.
I need to back it out maybe half a turn but its driving me nuts! -

Is the derailleur sitting on the low stop? Try taking any pressure off the screw by moving the derailleur if that is the case.
-
• #87420
Its like that now.
Shouldnt the 'push' help the screw screw out anyway?
I can ride the thing but its not perfect, you know? Chain rub.

The "push" on the screw would greatly increase the friction on the flanks of the threads so would not assist in its removal, in fact the exact opposite. More talk/torque needed.

I see.
Am I gonna have to drill it and replace it?
Any super penetrative lubes out there? -
• #87423
Have you tried screwing it further in and then screwing it out. Plus gas for a good penetrating fluid.

The only thing I havent tried is an electric screwdriver at this point. Worried about mashing up the head.
Plus gas oil or aerosol?
Appreciate the help. -
• #87425
Do not use an electric screwdriver, too little control. If you can fit something on the screwdriver to give you more torque, maybe molegrips or pliers on the screwdriver shaft, depending on the shape of the handle it may be possible to fit an open ended spanner if it has flats. Make sure whichever screwdriver you use is a good fit. If you can fit an additional lever as above, push down on the screwdriver with some force.
Aerosol usually best.
what narrow/wide chain rings are 105 crank compatible, and run in the high 40s/50 tooth count, for a 1x11 commuter?
