  • Anyone found a thru axle CX fork with mudguard mounts?

  • The Hongfu one I bought has mudguard mounts

  • ooh interesting. Cheers

    Link?

  • You have to ask them to add the fender mounts as they don't come as standard. No extra cost but you have to specify when ordering.

It's their FK286 fork. You won't find it listed on the website but if you email the sales email here: http://www.hongfu-bikes.com/ and ask for Rolice. They'll be able to send you pictures and drawings

This is the standard fork that they add the mounts to

  • Cheers mate. very helpful.

  • Right, this £10 Chinese carbon seatpost got sent to me in error. I have carbon sectioning tools, so I'm going to section it up and have a look inside.

What is hiding inside ready to impale up bottom? Place bets! Etc.

  • Main part of the post is UD by the looks of it. 4 plies at +/-45 degrees and wrapped in 3k plain weave before being buried in lacquer to make it shiny. Split line in the mould is along the line where I've cut. It's had some kind of inflatable bag inside it and no breather, like an inflatable plastic sock or something.

  • plastic sock you say...

  • I think bladders are common in mouldings

  • Top bit may be more of a concern. Ignore the white filler, it's the grey bits around the clamp holes that raised some eyebrows here. It's an expanding filler used to help consolidation in moulds. One of the older hands here recognised it.

It probably wouldn't break here, but I think I'd be nervous using it for downhill off road stuff. That said, I've never seen inside a 'good' seatpost, so it's hard to make any kind of comparison.

  • Interesting... what is the white filler though?

  • Suggestions for 11V tire wheels with a 25 mm wide tire?

  • Just a reminder most aliexpress sellers are doing hefty discounts for Singles Day this Saturday, 11th Nov.

Decent time to take a punt on some saddles that not suit my aris.

  • Usually there´s not much of a discount because prices increased beforehand.

  • Not really sure. Could be there for the internal bag to press against, but it doesn't really seem to serve a lot of purpose.

  • it had a good run. Three years of bashing including mess stuff (crazy heavy bag) so not complaining.

if i only could remove it now as it seems a big stuck :D oh well at least its not alu

  • A bit of duck tape will fix that no problem

  • Anyone bought one of those VCLS posts recently? Looking for another one.
Anyone got an eBay link? I’d rather that than AliEx

  • This is a fakey right? Cut it up and post a picture for us? 😙

  • Any recommended trispokes about? I think I remember xav mentioning a while back that some were nice and aero but QC was all over the place. Torn as to whether to trust new chinese wheel or 20-year old second-hand Specializeds.

edit: maybe xav was talking iO clones - either way, what's good?

  • Cutting up for science already arranged with someone working with carbon

  • Just need to get it off now
