hopefully it will lead to the recovery of bees and other insect species after the recent massive decline in their populations

As someone pointed out elsewhere, when did you last have to clean dead bugs off your windshield? That was pretty common when we were kids no?

We used to go on camping trips from Norwich to Wales in a VW camper van in the 70s, you could have made a hearty soup out of the squished bugs on the front.
