It’s difficult to just turn up and ride. They put security on a couple of the cobbled climbs and kick you off the course if you don’t have a number or the wrong number for that distance.

Secured a spot and going for 170km. I was thinking I would ride singlechainring, but would 38t Oval be stupid. Too much for hills and too little for chaingangs on the flats?

Did it last year. 20% slopes require full gas efforts irrespective of the gear selected. It’s horrible
Doing it again this year

38t oval and a cx bike with 28mm tires was a great move. I still managed 33km/h for the 12k sprint finish.

Resurrection... anyone doing it this year? Mate has passed on his entry and instead of riding slowly and then drinking beer at home, I'll ride slowly and drink beer there.

We usually go the week after and do all the climbs with no one around. Then ride roubaix but this year we have sacked all of it off and waiting on cancellation and getting our entry fees back.

I rode most of the route last summer; it was more opportunity for the actual event as it's a couple of hours drive from home.

Anyone doing it this year? Taken up another mate's deferred entry and off to do the 144km route. Or more likely the short one.

No sorry.

Did you ride?
I rode the 144km on a bitterly cold day. It was one to endure rather than enjoy but I'm sure I will be back next year

Rode the same distance with a group of Brixton CC guys as well, awesome day but it was really cold! Drinking three tripels at the end on the big square to celebrate and then watching the pros on the Kwaremont the next day was nice though!

In the end, I had a work meeting I couldn't skip that went very late on Friday so I gave the entry to a mate who did the short route as he didn't go dressed for winter.

This was such a good weekend. Rode it with what I suspect may be a fractured kneecap, which wasn't ideal. Luckily had @M4xime to tow me round, especially the last 10km into a headwind which was hideous. Then caught Covid either on the bus back from the Kwaremont or in the bars of Oudenaarde afterwards. Would ride again though.
