Most county council publish gritting routes, eg: http://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/roads-parking-and-rights-of-way/roads/roads-in-severe-weather/winter/ but obviously that's no guarantee there will be no ice. Hope you find a suitable route.

This is a variation of the Double Avon that goes through Tewkesbury from Bristol if you're interested...
Last time I rode up that way I took the A38 to Hardwicke then B4008/Bristol Road, A4301, St Oswalds Road, Gouda Way, A430/Kingsholm Way and back onto the A38/Tewkesbury Road. A bit main roady south of Gloucester, but OK. Didn't like the A38 N of Glos though, would head out to Hartpury and Ashleworth next time.
