  • Wait till you try and get your NDS PT crank arms off, that looks fun :)

  • when i asked condor if they stocked KMC 11x chain links, i got a blank response
    ffs LBS is jokes..

  • The KMC 11 speed links have only just been released so maybe they haven't heard about them

  • Campag 10sp chain, KMC link. ridden all year last year, no problems. Just Do It

PS., I have suffered serious injury but that was gravel and not chain related.

  • Campag 10sp chain, KMC link. ridden all year last year, no problems.

+1. I've been using KMC chains & hotlinks for a few years now and have no trouble with dis-/re-connecting them as and when the chain needs a proper clean.

The only chain that's given me real grief was a Chorus one that got sucked up and wedged. I couldn't get it off even to push home. Not going there again.

There is a Cyclus tool for removing Power Torque ALLOY arms, but they have not released a CARBON puller yet, however, the alloy one works with a few minor 'adjustments' ;)

  • On a lighter note, I do have both Official Campagnolo 10x & 11x Chain Tools.

More than welcome to use them if your in Brighton.

  • nice one cheesecake..

KMC 11x chain link arrived today from ChainReactionCyles
actually got two sets for £11.99 :)) non reusable, apparently..
instructions read, to fit or open Missing Link, use 'MissingLink Remover' pliers lolz.
wot my hands are not certified!!!

also i have Ultra Torque system not Power Torque, which comes with a central bolt when unthreaded would release/split crankset. Not sure if UT preceeds or suceeds Power Torque in technology terms..

  • I bought the complete KMC 11x SL chain. Its really light, and I like the look of the cut-outs.

  • Pricey though! I managed to get on from Planet X on sale, which made it pricey - 30%.

    @ £163.40 roflcopter

Really good prices and nice to deal with. Shame the 2011 SR rear mechs sold out :(

  • Campagnolo 11 speed chain
i fitted the KMC missing link, using the Park Tools chain pliers, a bit of a faff, but it is on. Everything is smooth running on the chain rings, jockey wheels.. but when the missing links reach the cassette, there is a slight jump. a bit annoyed really.. plus the fact that the missing link profile is not like the C11 chain link.. everything is new.

    any suggestions ??

  • Yes, don't ride it like that, the risk of snapping the chain is high.

I've the Campag 11 speed tool if you want to borrow it - George (bikepusher) is the current (long term) custodian.

  • Not questioning your knowledge Andy - but can you point out for my benefit exactly what is wrong? Why hasn't it worked?

I'm on 10sp and use a KMC link so just interested.

  • It's an issue of non-compatibility between brands. The KMC 11 speed link is intended to work with KMC 11 speed chains, not Campag 11 speed chains.

  • Ahh, fangs very much.

  • so i have to buy a KMC 11 speed chain as well, great!!
chorus 11 groupset not a bargain after all..

  • I'll also have a word with George (bikepusher),
i have spare C11 links and get extra pin so I can be on the road.

Maybe buy KMC 11 chain when it all needs replacing, cheers Andy
i don't want to risk serious injury or DEATH.

    Al

  • still got Andy's chaintool if needed... just shout

  • Set out to fit a Campy 10 speed ultra narrow chain this morning.

Broke the lug on the locator pin within seconds.

Went to the LBS and bought x4 KMC quick links (which turns out to be x8, 'cos I wasn't wearing my glasses and they're in twin packs).

Fucked about for ages trying to fir quick link to chain, and failing.

Measured quick link with vernier calliper, and it appears to be narrower that the Ultra-narrow chain!

I have given up for the day.

  • Those lug/locator pins appear also made of the same cheese they make the BB fittings from. Bought a veloce 10spd chain yesterday, set it aside until I have my patience-hat on...

  • Think I'll pop to Condor tomorrow, and grab a KMC chain.

Much as I love Campagnolo, I value my sanity more.
