Simple, it was a gift. I've never even looked at a Chromecast, so I wouldn't know the difference tbh.
Edit: Okay I've looked it up ... A Chromecast it seems is a video device (primarily), with HDMI output rather than phono. It's not a hifi device that can plug directly into your CAT5 network, and directly into your hifi system. I would ask you the question, why would you even consider these devices to be comparable?
