What about these [http://www.belmoto.gt/watches], they are the more old style brand of Magrette watches in New Zealand (http://www.belmoto.gt/watches)

Nth-ing Timefactors; I've got two of Eddie's watches (Speedbird III and PRS-18Q), and they're both incredible VFM and lovely in their own right. Of the watches in stock there at the moment, the Precista PRS-82 is a pretty cool reissue of a service dive watch. Or the Smiths PRS-29 if you want a field rather than a dive watch?
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll look into the Longines & Sinn and see if I can find any examples of them over here in budget.
The G-Shock would be a good shout in terms of being the ultimate tool watch but it's far too modern looking for him. He's into classic motorsport, military history and aviation so I was trying to think of more of brands that have that kind of history/heritage behind them. Obviously not easy with a small budget but I'll d some searching.
Alternatively, if i could find a nice Omega Seamaster (pie plate dial) from the 60's this could be another avenue to go down. I'm just wary of buing something that it isn't from an antiques market/ebay etc.
