Loosely audax related - I was in Wales near Cenmaes for half term last week and managed to get out for a ride on the one dry day of the week. Did the BCM alternate Mike Hall gravel detour which was amazing - the road part was a huge improvement over the usual BCM route to Dolgellau and the gravel part was great though slightly challenging on 30mm tyres. I then came back via the usual BCM route which is a bit busy later in the day, though it's nice to do the massive descent near Mallyd without being sleep deprived. Anyway, I highly recommend it. Particuarly without the stress of audax time limits. I presume the gravel section is in those 'not a tour' audaxes next year. Thanks to (if I remember correctly) @cgg whose rwgps account I found the route in.
Took them off beforehand on the basis that I wanted to ride offroad a bit. Which was definitely the right decision - I don't think they'd have survived the rougher bits of the descent to Dolgellau. I was close to pushing on some of it.
