  • Yeah, I found both standard gears a little spinny for the commute. I think 58t gives 60" and 80" gears.

I commute over Finsbury park/seven sisters, so mildly hilly but nothing too steep and get up both in the 58/12.

I think I averaged 23.something* mph for the bwc and 58t was still too spinny for that. Think some of the more serious guys were running 60t chainrings... 58t 130bcd narrow wide is about £20 from AliExpress.

Edit: just checked, 22.4mph for bwc.

  • Yeah my Nocturne average was about 32kph or something and my heart rate peak/average was highest it’s ever been - wild cadence. Will check out those Chainrings. Also with the 2spd I can singlespeed it very easily if I so wish.

  • Yes! My avg hr was 179bpm, peaking at 189.

On a standard hard ride I'd maybe see 155/160 avg with 179 peak. No idea how I didn't explode.

I'll see if I can dig out a link to the chainring.

  • That's the chainring I've got: http://s.aliexpress.com/ieUBryAN

I should note that I've got them fitted to Ultegra 130bcd cranks, not standard Brompton ones, but can't see why it wouldn't work?
