Did a refresher knife sharpening hang out with @mashton and having one knife that isn't actually blunt as fuck has infused me with the desire to actually use the whetstones I purchased and get the others back to sharpness, and then purchase more expensive knives to replace the ones I have so I can spend more time sharpening and honing them so they are super sharp..
My friends wife is Japanese so might speak to her and see if I can get hold of a couple next time they are back visiting the parents.. -

Met that guy at the market in Frome and very nearly blew my wad there and then on one of his beautiful blades.

That to me seems a logical price. I love my Ferraby and I appreciate that it's an 'arty' knife (particularly the handle) rather than something a bit more industrial/functional. But I was thinking of getting a parer to match when I spotted he's upped his prices in the year or two since I got mine by about 300 quid, so his new round of chef's knives are now 700 quid. Couldn't tell if I was being precious.

I was planning to do that, as a business, but have kind of decided against it. But, I have a knife of BRM's that I am sorting out and can be tempted into doing some more.
Problem is that I am quite busy with other shit and not very motivated. That is really why I have decided against it as a career. No self motivation skills here.

Ok. Still might try and tempt you for a tutorial at some point.

Sure. Of course. I owe you a favour.
Easier if you come to me, though?

I think that's mental.
I follow him and his knives look great but the blade is surely the main part of the knife and not sure his are better than the other custom/specialist options out there?

OOh I like those!
But the Bogwood handle of the Blenheim forge number is calling me. It looks fucking mean.

In fairness mine is a joy. I've had nice knives in the past but this is something else. Feels so easy to use, though appreciate everyone's tastes are different for weight and poise etc. But it was a one off 'treat' even at 400 or so. 700 odd at the moment is batshit. I was toying with asking him why he's increased it so much but not sure I can be bothered which is a shame :/

Not heard of them before tbh but they look beautiful!
Not a bad price for what they are either.

It does look very nice that big wood oak. The walnut Gyuto caught my eye.

Does anyone have a Boker pocket knife?
-
• #1795
I have had two, a hunter and a sportmesser but I have passed them both on.

Mine arrived today, one of the small torx headed bolts that holds the sides on is standing proud- if you screw out in then it stops the nearest blade from moving or pushes the side of the knife off the chassis.
I've had many Victorinox over 25 years, and never once this sort of issue.

What model?
Send it back. Boker are not cheap so QC should not be an issue.

Sadly I threw all the packaging in the bin having opened it, erm, destructively.

Sounds like one of the Tech Tools. I had one, was able to tweak it so it was smooth but didn't like it so sold it on. As long as the action is smooth and there's no blade play then it should be fine. A bit of Loctite on the screw will help. They're made in the far East for Boker by Sanrenmu, IIRC.
