  • Looking good. Tidy bike.

I am now very paranoid about my own Surly rack. How much are those litre bottles of Loctite?

  • I'm looking for a C record derailleurs...

  • That looks promising, needs a rolls titanio to match the silver vibe :)

  • Ignore how noisy the photo is, I'm really rusty as I haven't picked up a camera in a year and a half.

Got this Kissena off @pyekul last week, ordered bar tape and a rear tyre to match the gumwall on the front- and it's my birthday next week, SPD-SL shoes + pedals are on the way too.

  • very nice love the paint

  • @spotter if you want a brand new silver 5800 chainset just let me know. You're welcome to it, just cover the postage and I'll be happy. Can't remember crank length sorry. Currently in Orkney but next week can get on it if needed.

  • Stitches out my knee this afternoon, so time for the first ride of this. 4 gentle laps round the block. Felt SO good to get back in the saddle.

Couple of frustrations with the build now I've fitted it up properly. I thought my other Vitus was a 54, but it is in fact a 50 which actually measures 52ctc on the top tube and 50 on the seat tube. I thought this one was a 55, but it is in fact a 57 and measures 56 square. Fit is pretty much bang on where I was aiming except it's way tall at the front and no seat post. Might switch it to a Jag for rad lols.

  • the reflective stuff is so sensible, almost too sensible for lfgss

  • Thanks very much for the offer but I'd have to buy new chainrings for 4 arm. Very kind of you to offer though.

    @AlphaOmega @Jaap
Thanks - I had no idea when I ordered it that it was reflective, it's not very cool but it's better than a Altura night vision jacket or hump backpack cover...

  • Nea bother, glad you're getting there slowly and have some new wheels!

  • it's better than a Altura night vision jacket or hump backpack cover...

    completely agree!

  • Thanks, hope you feel 100% asap

  • It'll eventually turn out nice (I think) when it gets completed. No rush at all though since I don't need it other than having a project to think about and work on.
Yeah those are Bontrager forks, they pop up on ebay every now and then.

  • Currently building this one with 10sp record. Bianchi EV ti

  • Nice build. Shame about the sizing confusion! Quick question, are those unicanitors comfy? My lbs has a modern repro one for cheap and was thinking of grabbing it off him.

  • Flat bars and an SLR or Flite.

  • I really like the look of that, I agree with you regarding the cranks. But in saying that, the ones fitted ain’t that bad.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and hopefully back in the saddle very soon.

  • After a bit of work and sourcing, I unfortunately appear to have built the most boring / Halfords winter bike possible :/

  • Thanks very much, just deciding on a new helmet, hopefully will try I spin next week.
Functionally and aesthetically there's nothing wrong with them really, they're just heavy and the chainring isn't really round so there's a tight spot in the chain. Ive ordered some Alfine ones now, I found some new unboxed ones on eBay for a fiver cheaper than they are on trade. Hopefully the chainline will be ok.

  • Invisible mudguards

  • Where's your frame pump?

  • Cheers @haveo looking forward to building this
