  • Yup it's in a slow cooker avec Le lid. Plenty of liquid.

  • Ah right. For some reason I didn't read that bit.

    Should be grand, then.

  • Ta. Shall keep in mind for next time.

  • Yeah, it'll get there eventually. Those things can stay tough as old boots for hours

  • Yeah, that for speshul occassions.

Also Channel4 did a one off pilot called BEEF with Lee Tiernan and Elizabeth Allen, where Alex Szrok cooked a beef fore rib and it was brilliant but I can't find it for toffee.

  • I have had beef shin on the go since 7pm. Still nowhere near being cooked. Will probably just drop temp very low and leave overnight.

    It’s tomorrow night’s meal.

  • I had a KFC Doubledown on Saturday and thought the bottom of the junk food pit had been reached but thanks Taco Bell for lowering the bar

  • nah the kfc abomination is still the food going version of an ISIS recruitment video.

  • Carnitas for tacos in the slow cooker. Recipe?

  • Don't worry, it was literally on the last page.

  • I saw this delicious looking bastard a week ago. "Buffalo chicken pull apart bread". It's all I've thought about ever since.

Gonna make it tomorrow. Annnnd probably go to bed now.

  • Currently eating all the confit duck in Paris bistros. So good!

  • Enjoy. Hello Jill! (Gill?)

  • Smashed that stovetop carnitas on Friday as I had some friends round, it was incredibly easy to cook and everyone really enjoyed it.

Paid for those ridiculously priced 100% corn flour soft tacos from El Paso and just liberally applied fresh lime and coriander and a dollop of home made guac.

No pics. Was too busy eating.

  • I am soo conflicted about this... how was it?

  • Excellent! "Easy to cook" when friends are around is always a useful attribute for a recipe

  • Yeah it really is, there was a bit of a weird jelly at the end of the boiling stage, but that fried up into crispy deliciousness nicely.

  • I bought a taco press on eBay for £6 last year and haven't looked back. Bag of maize flour is about £2 and does many portions. Would recommend!

  • I've got to say I agree. I've never found a shop bought tortilla I'm happy with. This sounds like the future.

  • It's especially good for fridge-bottom dinners, when you can make decent soft tacos from all your leftover vegetables and don't need to head out for anything. You can make a dough and press them within about 10 minutes. Get a 12-inch press if you want to make big tortillas for fajitas/burritos/enchiladas!

  • Increasingly frustrated by the shit bread in this country, I stumbled upon Jim Lahey's no-knead bread recipe. It's piss easy and the bread is incredible. Currently working on scaling it up because it's getting eaten more quickly than I can make it.

  • It really let me down. I've rarely been so deflated. Middlesbrough's relegation in 1997, my best friend starting to date the girl I'd been in love with for 3 years at school, and now this.

I should have realised the massive flaw with this concept - the pizza dough, stacked up like a loaf, just didn't bake. It was still doughy after like an hour or more. It really really sucked. (The taste of the chicken 'topping' was great, so maybe best to just whack it on a pizza).

  • @Drano in which country?
