I know someone who worked in a ols fashion chippie after school the battered sausage is alway a saveloy that has not sold. It's probably sat for a few hours under heat after being cooked before battering.
And they are shit to start with. Stay away. -

Fond memories of that place when I worked round the corner. Blame them for being a fat fuck.

What was the name of the place that used to be on the corner of Oxford St and Charing X Rd. next to the Tottenham Ct Rd tube entrance. It burned down about 15 years ago. Used to be a regular stop off on the way back from town to the get the 38 home. Loved that place.

Tartare sauce at Golden Union is bangin' too - you basically get a jar of the stuff.

Used to work near Poland Street and frequent the chippie often. Now I work in Marylebone and go to The Golden Hind which has a lot of sitting in space. Been around since 1914 and currently owned by Mr Christou who is usually in there waiting to help.

Masters Superfish in Elephant and Castle. Best takeaway I ever had. Plus points for waiting with the cops and cabbies in the queue.

Agreed, just round the corner from my office (even though they have upped the prices a bit recently).

Poppies in Camden - chips with curry sauce and a can of Old Jamaica will set you back close to £9 if you want to sit in.

Good new(ish) place in Camberwell - Fladda
Used to be a bit shit then changed hands and got fully pimped out - prices for food didn't seem to change either which is pretty unbelievable. And they also sell beer now but it's not worth the price tag for a 330ml bottle...
£4 for a fair amount of cod bites and a portion of chips
or my personal fav (as a vegetarian), £6 for beer battered halloumi and chips

£9????????????!!!!!!!????!!?!?!?!?!
You'd go bust within about 2 weeks if you tried that anywhere north of Hampstead
