  • My favourite meal. Bloody lovely.
    Salt, vinegar, ketchup.

  • I know someone who worked in a ols fashion chippie after school the battered sausage is alway a saveloy that has not sold. It's probably sat for a few hours under heat after being cooked before battering.
And they are shit to start with. Stay away.

  • Kennedy's on Goswell Road FTW!

  • Oh yeah, big fan. Half price at lunch time too.

  • If I ever receive a battered saveloy it's getting returned! Sausage should be sausagey.

    (he cried)

  • Fond memories of that place when I worked round the corner. Blame them for being a fat fuck.

  • What was the name of the place that used to be on the corner of Oxford St and Charing X Rd. next to the Tottenham Ct Rd tube entrance. It burned down about 15 years ago. Used to be a regular stop off on the way back from town to the get the 38 home. Loved that place.

  • Tartare sauce at Golden Union is bangin' too - you basically get a jar of the stuff.

  • Used to work near Poland Street and frequent the chippie often. Now I work in Marylebone and go to The Golden Hind which has a lot of sitting in space. Been around since 1914 and currently owned by Mr Christou who is usually in there waiting to help.

  • Fish Central in Central Street is my local chippie, and damned good.

  • The one on Newington Green is pretty banging.

  • @Apone: 'Dialysis', due to imagined medical after effects.

  • The Galvin Hop has a Fish n' Chip special on today.

  • Anyone on this thread in Edinburgh?

  • Masters Superfish in Elephant and Castle. Best takeaway I ever had. Plus points for waiting with the cops and cabbies in the queue.

  • Agreed, just round the corner from my office (even though they have upped the prices a bit recently).

  • Poppies in Camden - chips with curry sauce and a can of Old Jamaica will set you back close to £9 if you want to sit in.

  • Good new(ish) place in Camberwell - Fladda

Used to be a bit shit then changed hands and got fully pimped out - prices for food didn't seem to change either which is pretty unbelievable. And they also sell beer now but it's not worth the price tag for a 330ml bottle...

£4 for a fair amount of cod bites and a portion of chips

or my personal fav (as a vegetarian), £6 for beer battered halloumi and chips

  • £9????????????!!!!!!!????!!?!?!?!?!

You'd go bust within about 2 weeks if you tried that anywhere north of Hampstead

  • Want!

or my personal fav (as a vegetarian), £6 for beer battered halloumi and chips

  • they booted the old owner out, who was a lovely chap. now they're trying to make it a gastrochippie. can >>>>>>>>

  • The Dove (Broadway meerkat) do pretty decent Vegan fish and chips. Well, chips aint right, but seaweed wrapped beer battered tofu is mint.

  • beer battered halloumi and chips

I like the sound of that :)

  • Still need to try that. Sounds mint.
