That integration though!!! Very simple but looks great!
Are you painting the rack to match?

That integrated cable hanger...

• #104
Bicycle Academy. I taught myself, but in retrospect that was silly and dangerous.

Thanks. I am undecided with the whole paint scheme

Thanks. Makes you feel like finishing dbad?
-
• #107
wow! rack and Giant looks great

• #108
Thanks mate.

Threaded adjuster in the hanger?
-
• #110
No. I wanted easy removal of the rack with out having to undo the brakes. And barrel adjuster I don't find that useful

Cool project.
I've run into this issue when hybridising old road frames for my wife. Integrated V-brake levers and shifters are cheap as so coverted to Vs. V brakes worked but only in a very wide open position. I just moved the spacers from the V-pads. Alignment wasn't ideal but I changed them regularly.

superb build!

Yeah old bike are tricky often. Pre 1990's is difficult :-)

Fitted the mudguards yesterday.
It is a fine fine ride now. I will thoroughly enjoy this over winter I imagine. Now I just need to decide on colour. Easy solution is black. Black mudguards and silver/black components would work well with black frame. I not so sure blue will work out. I am going to build a new sscx very soon which I will have painted Midnight Blue, this means I will sell my Specialized Tricross I had painted RAL 7032 Pebble grey. I really like this colour so i might get the Giant painted that colour to keep it in my life :-)
I am tempted to polish rack and give it jade oil. I am not sure how well it will last, but rumors say it is a quite tough finish. And my bikes are parked indoors overnight always.

Cable Hanger 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
How come you're giving the Tricross up for sells?

Thanks all,
I have a super exciting project coming up for SSCXWC and SSCXEC.
Most likely I will be starting fabrication of a couple of SSCX bikes with my friend next weekend. We are working out the details, but I will end up with my own creation instead of riding the Tricross. I will go for more or less same setup, just steel frame instead of alu, 44mm HT and 130mm rear spacing so I can use my carbon hoops :-) -

dibs on those crazy brakes if ya sell it...
-
• #121
I've got some Paul cantis if you wanna do an Amey?
-
• #122
not fluoro tho innit
-
• #123
potentially interested in these Paul Cantis if the OP isn't :)
-
• #124
Yeah, I have made the mistake of selling same brakes before. Not this time tho. 2017 is the year where you base your builds around brake choices. Everybody thought it would be repurposing old MTBs. But it is brakes.
Anyways, tapered Enve canti forks are on the menu + flouro delight :0)

fair nuff!
I'd say Ocean Blue.
I want to learn to braze....where do I start?
