  • Was talking about trackers last night for my KTM - biketrac is getting good rep from the bikers in my local. I’m going to investigate. Had some unsavoury scrotes sniffing around my bike very late at night last week. I bought a second big chain and an alarmed lock but still feel a bit anxious.

  • I’ve got a bike Trac if you’ve questions.

Hope it was a 19mm chain and squire lock. Though the lock can be ground in 15min with decent electric grinder.

That said, would I want it back when it’s been knocked? Dunno.
Try store it out of sight.

  • I believe they are good for anything with bar-end weights (contrary to the UR site) ->
These, I am now informed, are very specific to the Honda Integra

  • I use Trakking on mine. It seems to work and costs around £100 p.a. which is enough to bother me but still gives about enough peace of mind. I probably wouldn't want it back but it would be nice to get some scrote caught for thieving it.

  • Quick spin out near Pioneer Town - FAST, alternatively deep sand and hard pack trails. Lots of 4th / 5th gear stuff. The XR hauls! Even if it is a bit on the weighty side.

  • Looks like I need a new battery, rode 20 odd miles at motorway pace on Saturday, spent a morning in the library, then went to ride home and it took a little coaxing to get going.
Same ride home, dropped bike off at the garage for an MOT, passed, picked it up and it wouldn't start, had to be jumped.

    Are all batteries equal?

My usage of the bike has changed from a daily commuter to occasional use, which has probably helped the deterioration.
Sadly my garage isn't powered so optimate is out, and I don't really want to take the battery out all the time. It's not going to be parked for the winter, I do intend to use it fairly often.

  • You might be able to bring your battery back from the dead with a deep charge. Worth a go.

I just buy yuasa from Halfords as I’ve trade card. If you find you model I can check what trade price is?

  • Thanks matey, I would need a Yuasa YTZ14S.

  • £78 on trade.

    Cheapest below

  • Worth checking your charging system too - just been through the wars with mine, the silver lining is that I've learnt a fair bit. If you don't have one, voltmeters are pretty cheap and give peace of mind, sorting my system out and getting 14.5 volts at tickover made my month.

  • Are Yuasa the only brand worth considering?

  • They are good - OEM for many, Motobatt are also decent.

  • I've sold a helmet on ebay, what sounds like an acceptable level of packaging?
it has a bag, can i then just wrap it up? its obviously pretty solid.

  • It may depend on what standard of helmet as to what's expected and buying a second hand one isn't something I'd really entertain anyway but I'd be livid if I got one delivered just wrapped up. Box with polystyrene inserts to stop it rattling would be what I'd expect.

  • well £180 helmet, sold for £50. Good used condition. I'll build a box and pack it in.

    Cheers!

  • Most average batteries do most things well enough.
I use my funduro for Deliveroo (others use bandit 600, cbf600 etc sort of commuter 600cc 4 banger bikes), constant stop start, engine off at lights, sometimes I turn headlight to sidelight, mostly don't bother, heated grips now on half power most nights. And battery is still solid full all the time. Starts on one turn of crank though, so never uses much to get going.
Think mine is a motivate? It's a yellow fibre gel type affair, was around £90 new.

  • In other news, bike jacking, police couldn't give less shits. Days have passed now and nothing. Not even a follow up phone call. Guess I didn't hurt him enough with a 185kg + bike going over part of a bam.

Puncture fixed easy, just patched tube, tyre came off rapid, handy as the bead is hard to break on that one without a proper machine.

Did a sunny sunday morning blast up north to Aberfoyle, then Comrie and back, about 150 miles. Mix of chugging looking at scenery and trying (and definitely failing) to keep up with sports bike guys on the faster twister a roads.
Found the best sausage roll I've ever had in a cafe in Comrie. And a cheeky b Road that was so good I went back and did it again, 10 miles each way of medium speed (40-80mph) grippy, easy visibility, predictable comers and bouncy straights. Had such a smile on my face hurt afterwards.

  • Solid recovery! Love those medium speed twisties.

  • Very reminiscent of the Cagiva Elefant.

  • Great bike and fucking awesome

  • First thing I thought was Africa Twin rip off, then saw Elefant came first.
    What a kickass looking machine.

  • Early AT is my dream bike.
    Extremely achievable too.
When I get the space for another bike, etc.
