Did some boring jobs on the hard rock ultra today: repacked headset and wheel bearings, got all the gears working with the shitty Altus shifters that were fitted at some point in its life.
Just need the new bars n stem to arrive and it’ll be done. If I like the bike in spring I’ll pop on a new old group and drops/nice shifters but so far it’s only cost me £20 in parts and I’d like to keep it that way.Does anyone have some plastic toe clips/straps they want rid of?

Think I have some black toe clips you can have, let me try and dig them out

Thanks for the Peugeot the other day mate, stop teasing and show everyone the full bike!

You’re welcome, thanks for the Vego bar, it lasted nearly an hour..
Will post a full pic when the bars are on. I’ve got some shitty black lock on grips I can use, but I’d rather fit some purple odis with pink end caps if I like the bike.
I’ve popped on one of those £7 Ebay canti fit racks as well. Worth a punt. It’s got the original spesh crossroads tyres but I’ve also got the choice of schwalbe snow stud and Kenda kiniption in the cupboard.
Sks p65 would be a practical addition but I really want a yellow set of original crud guards with Alu stays. Liz has a translucent set on her Troll and they make it look like a motox bike. -

You should get a yellow flite on it!

I want one badly.
Currently watching a yellow supercorsa.. -

On a separate note,
Do good quality step-thru mtbs exist? Ie half decent tubing and worth putting the effort into? There’s a ladies gt palomar on Ebay at the mo with shite groupset and a few uninspiring giants but aside from that it appears there’s only bso type things.
If anyone has anything quality(either frame or complete) that’d make a winter bike for a 5’4 rider then let me know...

Apparently those dynatech frames came about as Raleigh bought a load of cheap titanium tubing from Russia. And made a whole bunch of these frames with them

Specialized, GT, Trek, Giant, etc had lady versions of most of their mid to low range bikes in the early to mid 90s. So you'll likely find 6061 and 7005 (or maybe even chromoly) frames similar to the men's ones. The components will be crap though. Something like the Palomar or a Hard Rock will be fine if you upgrade the parts.
One of the more overt aspects of sexism in cycling was (is?) the disparity between in quality between mens' and womens' bikes. A high end ladies' mountain bike from the 90s would almost certainly be custom.

This is what I thought. A shame there’s nothing like the availability compared to nice touring mixtes from the same era.
We missed out on a Raleigh apex with xtr that was nearly step thru a couple of years ago.
I’m sure I’ve seen some nicer pugs before as well.Academic now as Liz is getting back the rather nicely appointed(albeit horizontal tubed) Fiori that was owned by my parents neighbour in France. We serviced it last year and is a perfect fit for her. It also happens to have a sick crackle fade paint job.
Sks p65, smp and it’s done.

Readers' wives but this one ^ reminded me I have a Panasonic Mc Pro myself. XTR would look good on it too...

Anyone want a 13" Trek 930 Singletrack F&F? True Temper OXII, made in USA. Eyes for mudguards. Nicely made rigid fork, decent cast ends. Has headset, can offer stem (it's threaded 1&18"). Paint is pretty good, BB thread looks fine. 135mm OLN, 73mm BB.
Cheeeep. PM for pics. It's nice.

What a bargz. Tentative dibs.
I am holding out for something nearly as good but with a few rack eyes, but I might not get it if the price aint right ... in which case I could bodge what I want to mount onto this. Will know on Sunday.

Just need the humpert lady cruiser bars to turn up and it’ll be done for the short term. New saddle and pedals are a must tho.
I can’t decide between keeping the original crossroads tyres on it or fitting the kiniptions I have in the cupboard.
Still needs og crud catchers. Or maybe sks, undecided.
I’ve got a cable hanger with more drop on the way as the bend is too tight at the mo.

Kiniptions are wider (and thus much cooler) no?
I'd always go with the widest available. And old tires are going to wear really quickly too.
Most of the Dynatech/Mtrax titanium bikes had titanium main tubes (sometimes just a down tube and top tube) bonded into aluminium or steel lugs. A friend of mine had a titanium Dynatech MTB which he rode for many years before breaking the frame by damaging one of the chainstays in a crash. Raleigh also did the Dynatech Torus range, which were all titanium frames and badged as Dynatech on the head tube. Here's a pic from the catalogue:
I've got one which I've been meaning to restore and rebuild for many years now. One day...
