My Freddie Grubb is old enough to have a lamp holder braze-on on the fork.
Is there any sensible way to adapt this to mount modern lights, particularly ones with integrated (often rubber) straps that would normally wrap around the handlebars?
I'd like to use the braze on but don't want a gas lamp or Duracell torch hanging off it.
I suppose ideally I'd like something that connects securely to the braze on and gives a lipped tube extending a couple of inches to strap the light to.

Thanks.
Both hood and bench are made for tool free operation. No bolts to replace.
I could fit a wire lock to those parts, but it would need some holes drilled, be cumbersome and probably not that hard to cut anyway. -

Would it be a tremendous pain in the arse to make carrying those parts to the bike, and the fitting thereof, part of the using the bike ritual?

I would but only from tomorrow ;)

You don’t have kids, do you?

No, I have two cats, one of which is a delinquent.
I'd need to look at the hood and bench, but I'd likely fix them to the frame - maybe rivets for maximum "fuck you, opportunity thief" value. You can always drill the heads out at a later date?

I'd like someone to purchase this for me: https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/mercedes-benz-w124-gloria-feuerloescher-1-3kg-mit-halter/736811256-223-4533
Happy to send them the money in advance, is no scam.

Hm. Drill and bolt with security torx could work for bench, I think. Hood is easier lockable with a padlock.
Cheers

We got one of the hood hoops nicked off ours when it was parked in town. Just a front one.
It saddens me that fellow owners nick bits. Tho I guess your bits might be sold on.
Does your flat overlook the street where you park it? Security cameras are good and cheap now.

A hyper-sensitive alarm that'll go off if someone touches the bike?

I'm in Germany but wouldn't call myself a German speaker. My google translate is out of this world however... still waiting on my German bank account getting set up tho so might be tricky unless they take PayPal.
I presume you want purchase then onwards posting?

That sounds like. Start but the lamp bracket thingy isn't threaded. It's like a mushroom. I can get a pic after the weekend. I'll try to Google one now.
BRB.

Oh no, I lied. It does have a threaded hole in. Oooh, that's exciting.
As you say, it may be hard to find the right thread mind.

Ein Berliner has stepped in already, but many thanks for your offer.

I have one of these that I attach to a mid-blade fork boss. No idea how it would work with those old style light mounts but it's a similar concept to the DIY steerer+star nut version:

Sorry, Neil, too late to it. Always happy to help with translating, although in this case I don't think I could have helped--I don't use eBay.

They look good but I'd have to bodge up a bolt with M5 thread on one end and the old, vintage thread on the other end.
Hacksaw plus araldite perhaps. Or am I failing in understanding what a star nut is?

I'm sure I've got a BSC bolt of the type you want. I'll look and if so you can have it.
If not...

Nah, not a possibility with the cab company .. no chance at all? I'll have to book an 8 seater then!
Also, any Germans (or German speakers) who could be persuaded to do me a favour?
