  • Thanks - yes that's a really good point - if it's Euro 4 is that good enough to comply?

She doesn't really want to spend more than £1700 - hoping to get an Autumn deal and sell it in Spring for not a lot less...

  • Where are you Chak ... London?

  • Not sure on the T charge, if you're not planning to keep it until the Ulez comes in then it's probably going to be easy enough to find something that complies. Looks like you could definitely get a modern SH125 for £1700, probably less in a private sale. Not sure if the winter price effect really kicks in for a month or 2 though.

Just be careful with private sales in London, I've turned up to a few that were so dodgy I walked away. If you're going somewhere with enough cash to buy the bike you need to watch your back. Never had a problem with big bike sales but scooters seem to attract the scammers.

Having said about the T charge not being a big problem, it's obviously going to affect resale value as anyone looking for a scooter for a few years won't be interested unless it complies with ULEZ.

  • In case anyone is interested or it is useful - I have recently started working at The Cafe Racer (clothing and bits, not bikes).

Not sure about acquiring any forum benefits just yet, but I'll see what I can do. Is a pretty small outfit. Will take requests/abuse as it comes.

  • Nice! I've been meaning to have a ride down to have a look at the Blauer 80s lids for years, what're they like quality wise?

  • They're pretty new to us, but seem really good, nice and light. Padding not super luxury is the only negative we can find to be honest. We're at a new site in Shoreham now, better for parking if you do make the trip

  • Thanks for the advice - Mrs is now keen on a Vespa 300 - she has an irrational aversion to Japanese scooters (bad experience with a Yamaha once).

  • Get the piaggio version if you want less risk of theft. Seems anything with "vespa" stamped on it (even when it's a nasty + boring one) seem to attract attention.

  • Funduro fixed!

For first time it runs like it should. All the time I've had it I think it's only been charging on 2 out of 3 of the stator coils. Until the other week it's never been an issue, been producing enough voltage (>14.6 all the time) on just the two. So this whole time the spark has been a little weak.

Now found tye issue with it running on and popping. Was fitting new heated grips today, and while running with bodywork off heard what sounds like a loose spark plug (soft chuffing). Turned out to be the original chain oiler vacuum line that runs from one of the carbs had split and come off.
Found a thing from an 80s volvo that would fit abd boom! With new caps (again as last ones weren't quite the right shape).
    Runs like bosse.
No enricher needed to start anymore, idle more constant (and much sharper exhaust note), no running on, no fumes, nice solid engine braking and power back where it should be (mid to high rev range).

Glad it was an easy fix!

  • I am indeed

  • Seconding what BrickMan has said, they are the most stolen bikes. Still decent though. You should have mentioned she has a full bike licence! What's she doing on a scooter.

Never mind her problems with the Japanese, the Honda SH was designed from the ground up by Honda Italy. Missing a gem if you don't try one.

  • Well it was fixed.

Jist had a half assed bike jacking event. Bunch of bams putting stuff in road to slow you right down, three pounced out, one straight infront on the bars, the other two coming up on me. Thank fuck they were a bit wasted, and hand guards! Stopped him from getting at brake lever. Just pushed past the little scrote before the other two got to me. Might have ran over part of him.
Reported to police who took so long to attend I left out of being cold. Npw have a giant screw in front tyre, tube is gone, not massively far from home so gonna see if poss to ride back on it. Prob not I'm thinking (tubed tyre abd no bead locks)

  • Fuck. That's pretty full on. You ok?

    Where abouts did this happen?

  • Fuck that, glad you're all right mate.

You can ride on a tubed front without rim locks. just don't grab handfuls of front brake.

  • I know. I keep leaving pics of the 390 Duke open on the computer...she had a 125 Duke that got nicked which she loved but for now she wants a scooter for topbox and easy kid carrying on the back.
Have told her the SH is 'Honda Italy' - now she's interested!

  • Salient points about the SH series are the larger wheels, linked ABS and it's narrow for filtering.

It's not a bad idea to have a tracker fitted either.

Only downside is they had a break in official import of the 300cc to the UK for a few years, started again this year. So you might not find many from 2013-16.

  • I am indeed

    Just PM'd you

  • Anyone know if these will fit a motorbike (blackbird)?

  • Had my first full on slider today. Diesel patch out of nowhere. Full gear ftw.

  • Thanks and Well done for being able to remind us all. How fast were you going?

  • Slowing down from around 45-ish?. I've only just started reprimanding myself for not gearing up, even if it's stout riding jeans. Worth every penny.

  • Oh , so were you in full gear then? I thought you were.

  • Oh yeah I was in full gear. Comment was that bike specific protective stuff is the bare minimum that should be worn.

  • +1 for that. Proper kit always.

  • Still nothing to make you feel alive like triple figures in t shirt and shorts!

    Glad you’re okay dude.
